Halo 4 Boost Mechanic

How would people like to see the boost mechanic work in Halo 4? Do you want the unlimited boost from 2/3/ODST or the limited boost from Reach? I don’t mind Reach’s limited boost because it recharges quickly and it’s rare to need the whole thing anyway. Also, for the Wraith which always had a short boost, it’s a lot easier to tell when you boost has recharged, because you can see the bar right on the screen. That said, although I’m not a speed-runner, I would assume it makes speed running in a Ghost harder if you can’t boost for as long as you want.

well, if the Spartans are as weak as they were in reach, keep the limited, because then the ghost becomes a splatter-machine

if Spartans can actually jump…then i’m not quite sure what it should be

limited is realistic enough, but annoying on larger maps

while unlimited makes the ghost more splatter-friendly…as much as it is supposed to have more splatters than other vehicles, it’s got guns, and they are meant to be used

Definitely Halo 2’s unlimited boost, and maybe the rest of Halo 2’s vehicle mechanics as well? Halo 2 certainly had the best Ghost… Halo 2’s vehicles were far better than Halo 3’s plastic vehicles and Reach’s pathetic paper vehicles.

Boost lasted so long in Reach that limiting it was pointless anyway.

I prefer the Halo 2 style of vehicles more than anything else.

Yeah, boost was pretty long in Reach, I barely noticed the restriction. You can boost across most if not all of Blood Gulch and be within the limit–certainly from base to base, and even then the whole thing recharges in a few seconds.

Finite boost:

Chopper (it would be boss with a controllable boost)

As for the Banshee, I’d like one with faster movement speed.

Hardly (in H2 and H3 at least. Was tricky in CE and I’m not sure about Reach’s Ghost). If it collides with something, it goes off course. It gets slowed down. And the autoaim makes it way too risky to use for that purpose.

Why are the wings of the Ghost, Banshee, and Wraith so annoying?! Clearly, Covies do not have understanding of war… jk

The CE hog is the perfect example of a splatter machine. Steady, fast, and maneuverable. Colliding into a wall did not stop it but bounced it. You could exit it quickly so if you were driving towards a cliff, you could save yourself. If you were driving in a straight line, you could get out and get on the turret.

I’d like to have similar boosting as in Halo’s 2-3. For those Vehicles with limited boost there could be boost meter.
