yeah as title says im really hoping 343 make a beta for halo 4 so i can judge wether i want to buy the game or not anyway leave your opinions about a beta and if it would be good or bad or you dont care:)

Don’t understand why they wouldn’t want to hold a public beta? That’s the only way to ensure the best multiplayer experience. Once again, 343 fails to deliver.
Halo 4 will not have a public beta, and the OPs statements are a good reason why: most people don’t use betas to test the game and give feedback, most use it like a demo.
Anyway, there is strong evidence that Halo 4 will have a demo sometime before release, but nothing confirmed thus far.

Why not? Because most people use public betas as a demo for the game. A public beta is a means to test out the matchmaking code, weapon balance, etc. Without proper feedback, this cannot happen. Besides, all of this can be adequately tested internally.
And with how Halo 3 and Reach turned out in comparison to their respective betas, I’m glad 343 isn’t doing a public beta. Halo 3 and Reach, with in their early releaase candidate stages (aka during the public betas) played much better than the release product.

I don’t see why people need to participate in a beta to just make them buy the game.
Rent it when its released or look at reviews.
Halo 2 didn’t have a public beta either, shocking thing is… people still bought it!!

Because making an educated decision based on observation it too hard, it seems. And of course, there’s the fear that the game will suck; and when they go to sell their game back to the distributor, they’ll get “ripped off”.

I understand kind of why people would want to test out the game first before buying, but that’s why you rent the game, or go over to a friend’s house and play it with him.
If you can’t do those two things, you buy the game, and test it out, if you don’t like it, sell it on Ebay.
Now, the fact that people play betas because they think of them as demos, piss me off.
OP, you don’t NEED to play the beta, it’s a beta test, it’s meant for finding bugs, and fixing them, not so people can play it so they can figure out if they want to buy it or not.
What you want is a DEMO, say it with me, DEMO, demos are for exactly what you want the beta for, to play so you can find out if you want to buy the game.

Betas also lead to marketing ploys. To play the halo 3 beta, we had to buy caketown, err, i mean crackdown, and for reach we had to buy odst.
some are likely thinking why is it bad to buy odst?
Well, odst was meant to be an expansion, and im sure MS decided to use the reach beta as one excuse to bump up the price to retail.
Another thing is that in the latest sparkast, its mentioned that the internal beta has been over with for awhile. So a public beta is essentially a no go at this point.
