Alright, i didnt really ‘want’ or was worried about a beta, i was just wandering and wanted to know what the community thought.
Yeah I’m happy there not doing a open beta. Why! Because if you look at the past Halo games Halo 2 was the best because it had no open beta. Halo 3 and Halo Reach beta made the multiplayer just suck when it comes to the weapons and all. Like in Halo 3 Beta the carbine was worth picking up. But when the game release they weaken the weapon because all those die heart BR fan boys were complaining that the BR should be more powerful then the carbine even though the carbine is a covenant weapon plus it takes more skill to use because it a single shot weapon.
Not a public one, no. This forum is a disaster, you guys can’t agree on anything. How could you even think of a beta with the destructive repurcussions it would have on these forums?
There’s not going to be one cause there doing one right now read the weekly update. Bs comes right out in her own words to say hey where doing a beta RIGHT NOW HA HA
Nope. A private beta is much better. Most people here are blinded by nostalgia, or have no idea how the multiplayer mechanics work. I’m sure that most of the feedback from the Reach beta was useless.
Well, there are beneficial things both with and without a beta. If they were sure Halo 4 would be received well by the fans, they would have a beta to prove it. If they’re insecure, they’ll just limit the info and hope that hype will make the game fly off the shelfs at release (which it will no matter the quality).
Open/Public beta:
Everyone gets to test the game, they can stress test the servers and fix the netcode, some exploits might get patched, balance could get fine tuned, people would know if Halo 4 will be epic or not. Shows that 343i has confidence in Halo 4.
Closed/no public beta:
Less things to discuss/hate on the forums and hence a better experience, no need to release and handle an beta, the game can be totally worthless and still sell really good. Does not show that 343i have confidence in Halo 4.

Beta’s aren’t meant for that kind of “testing”, If you really want to play a beta just for those reasons I singled out in your post, then you really don’t want to play a beta, you want this thing called a DEMO, a demo is designed for those reasons.
But the rest of what you said about the beta, I agree with.
Would like a beta, but it seems that we’re not getting one.
I think that’s the biggest mistake 343 has made (not that 343 have made many mistakes so far…).
But it may just mean that it is still a work in progress, not ready for a public test yet. That is okay, but I’m worried about this.
No beta, no reason why not grab all the money and run away.
I have complete respect for 343i, but I don’t think that was a god move for the most anticipated game of 2012.
