Halo 4 at Night

Hi guys, theres no way for me to play halo at night from Germany because i only play against US Players.
I must hit the Enemy at least 2 times more before he dies.
Fix this plz with good servers.
I have 16k DSL and Fastpath.
In Germany i got ping about 15to20 and no lag.

It’s not a problem with servers at all. The game is peer to peer, which means your connection to the other players isn’t very good, which is fairly common when playing games with people in other countries. Sorry to hear about the lag though, I feel for you :’(

When you are playing with players that far apart you’re going to get serious ping times creating a lot of lag. There really isn’t anything you can do about it I’m afraid. Try doing a speed test to a server in the US if you can. That would give you an idea of the ping times in that situation.

you can only hope Halo gets dedicated server.

It is a problem with the servers. They should connect you to players who have the best connection to you. Not to players at the other side of the world. The previous Halo game had a special feature for it, good/regional connection search, but is nowhere to be seen in Halo 4.

ty for fast reply.
Its Sad but at Night i cant play without getting raged.
For Example i fired with the saw against the normal maschine gun from unsc and i lost. And i targeted the enemy the hole time at his head.
Unfortunatly i must work from 2pm to 10 pm.
I hope the game gets dedicated Servers because the Halo Franchise isnt that popular in Europe.

It isn’t all your fault. 343i should take some blame because, like always, they stayed away from the good things in Halo. One of which being the dedicated servers Bungie had created that helped reduce lag. Stupid 343.

I’m pretty sure someone from 343 has come onto the forums and advised that that’s exactly what the servers are already set up to do, basically the option is checked by default.

You COULD always just move to the US. /joking
But then again, we still get lag over here too. :’(

the lag is horrible at times over here too

it sucks

big time

I wish that Halo 4 had dedicated servers, or at least good connection / regional search filters. Seems like every second match lags for me, and then when I get sick of it and quit I get quit banned. :’(

and before people say it’s my connection, my connection was fine in 3 and Reach.

The game needed dedicated servers and a bunch of us were asking for them more than a year beore Halo 4’s release but they didnt listen. They didnt even give us a good connection option ffs.

Optimised system still doesnt work as good as Reach’s good connection option.
There needs to be an option as some people just want the quickest game they can find and others would much rather wait a few minutes than get a laggy game.

Its like putting smokers and non smokers together and saying too bad.

I seriously hate 343.

A few thoughts for a moment of your time that Might be of help to you.

*You can try to change the network settings in the Infinity Matchmaking to do good connection, i’m sure there is one, but I haven’t found it yet.

*Make certain your connection on your end is as strong as possible meaning:
Dedicate as much bandwidth as possible
Make sure your NAT setting is OPEN

*Use a Wired Connection if you aren’t already, you’d be surprised how much of a difference this makes.

Sorry had to rewrite my post as it was too nasty.

This feature does not exist in Halo 4. It DID exist in previous Halo games but 343 in their infinite wisdom chose to leave it out.

They were probably thinking half the planet would be playing Halo 4 making that option obsolete.

Halo 4 at night is a bunch of SR 130 tryhards who come out to play.

Well, I live in Romania(I don’t expect you to know exactly where that is), but I don’t play a lot at night, and my lag problems are minor. I do get a blackscreen and delays every once in a while, but the most serious problems are in SpartanOps and sometimes in Campaign. War games are not very laggy(usually), and if they are you can always quit. One thing that 343 has done well is that lag is less of a factor in matchmaking now.(in most cases)

If you love Halo then you’ll move to America!!!

That’s exactly how it works…You get into a game, and it picks the host who connects best to everyone in the game. If you’re the only German, and the rest are US, then of course a US host is going to connect to everyone in the game better than the solo German player.

I know, I’ve read that post from 343i. Yet the game only searches with “good connection search” for the first few seconds. After that it disables that. Were as in the previous games you could force it to keep the good connection search on even after the first few seconds.

I’m pretty sure that the Australians/Europeans here disagree with you. Besides you shouldn’t be connected to those players in the first place. 343i Isn’t going to tell me that there aren’t players from Europa online.

That’s not what he’s saying. He’s saying you should be able to filter who you connect to; meaning if the player is from Germany, he could set a filter to only connect to other German, or European players. Same with players from Australia, and America. These regions are simply too far apart to connect to each other reliably.

And yes, like you said, American players always pull host because there are a lot more American players in any given game, generally speaking. This means that making an American player host ensures the majority of the players get a fine connection. This, however, leaves the one or two foreign players in the game out of luck because they have terrible lag, (and shouldn’t have been matched up into that game to begin with). The system ‘works’ how its supposed to, 343i has just failed to implement all the necessary features.

I’m from the US, and have a moderately good connection, so I rarely experience lag, (except in SpOps), but I’ve seen so many foreign players complain about lag, it’s astounding. I love Halo 4, even for its flaws, but I see this as a major technical oversight on the part of 343i. Obviously dedicated servers would be the ideal fix, but in lieu of that, they should at least have a regional filter, because I, too, prefer not to get on at 4am and have to play with nothing but players from the UK.

The US internet network isn’t the greatest either. I’ve heard US players complaining of lag when connecting from coast to coast and with Mexico and Canada. God help us in Europe.
