Halo 4 armour effects.

So, I haven’t heard much about the Armour effects in Halo 4 (In the sense of Grunt Birthday, pestilence etc).

I just thought I’d mention this since it’s always been on my mind in Halo Reach. I think controlling your own death effect is a little stupid. I like it and all, but I think it would be better as some kind of kill effect.

For example, instead of buying Grunt Birthday Party so that when you die, you burst into confetti, you buy it so that whenever you kill other players, they burst into confetti. Same with the Love hearts or Pestilence.

Maybe create a good few versions so it’s a little more varied.

Just my thoughts, because I never bought one in Halo Reach till I was done with everything else. If I could control the way things around me die, I would have been a lot more interested than just controlling the way I die.

Lets face it, who wants to make their enemy happier by giving them a little additional fun to killing you.

(I know this doesn’t work so well for the lightning one, which is why I haven’t mentioned it, but there’s no reason not to add armour effects like that as well as kill effects).

Also I know this is fairly late, since the game is going Gold pretty soon, but it’s more speculation and fun thought than anything else.

(TL;DR - use armour effects as kill effects instead, so whatever you choose is what the people you kill do, rather than what you do when you die).

What do you think? And what other armour effects and kill effects would you like to see if you could?

343i was wise to scrap them. No build has a armor effect/kill effect in them. They were most probably replace by Armor skin/patern.

I would personally prefer armour effects to be player appearance options for gametypes or custom power ups. For example all zombies in infection have pestilence, Juggernauts have Inclement Weather, Regicide kings get flame helmets, Grif in Grifball gets set on fire just like juggernauts in Reach.

so you would want to hear that obnoxious sound every time you killed someone?

> so you would want to hear that obnoxious sound every time you killed someone?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that what most people do in Campaign anyway?

I personally feel empty when I headshot a grunt and they don’t poof into confetti these days. I don’t think that skull would have been used at all if it just made your in-game character do that when they die in campaign, I’m just applying that logic to MP too.

I really hope they’re gone.
