Halo 4 armor vs. Reach armor

Reach had the best armor look hands down. Gritty, variety of size, overall great.

Halo 3 and 4’s armors kind of look a bit shinny.

Its just my opinion but…Halo 3 was the only one where I noticed EVERY persons armor I fought against. I NEVER noticed anyones in reach. I understand there are differences in them but nothing stood out. Something about halo3 made everything stand out more. I remember call outs during matches and we’d use armor sometimes. I remember the first time I saw hayabusa helmet…or the security helmet with/without katana…omg that was cool!!! I couldn’t wait to unlock that stuff. The games now, I don’t care.

Reach because of Haunted. That is my favorite helmet ever.

> A lot of the armor in both Reach and h4 is pretty weird although Reach had slightly better armor IMO. I still think h3 had the best armor despite having a small selection. You could actually customize both the spartan and the elite, and who didn’t love having that katana?

I always refused to wear that thing. And hayabusa in general. It was the dumbest thing I had ever seen in halo.

There’s always that one guy…

It also made it more difficult to hide behind cover, you could die from being shot in that sword.

Reach Armor for me is better because it had more variety of Helmets and having great quality overall ,Halo 4 most of them looked weird and do not fit halo
(my opinion) for example

locus,Ranger,soldier,wetwork,fotus,scout and infiltrator

My favorite Armor and helmet in Reach are the following:
Helmets:
Eva,commando,Mark V,Mjolnir Mark VI and scout

Armor Parts:
operator,sniper,Tactical/patrol,ODST,commando and security

I liked the styles of the Halo 4 armour like the halo 3 armour.

but comparing the quality to the reach armour. Halo 4’s Mark VI is completely screwed up.

I hope Halo 5 has the crazy design feature from Halo 4, the quality from Halo: Reach, and the original sets from Halo 3.

I just spent 15 minutes arguing with myself about the design aspects of Halo 4’s armors. I found tons of issues including lack of functionality, protection, wow factor, and does the design fit the purpose with Halo 4. I tried to objectify my thinking by looking at those Halo Reach armors and the only problem I could find was what is the purpose of JFO.

Lately I have been playing a lot of Halo Reach, and sometimes it takes a break from a game to realize how good it was. When I talk about how good Reach was, I’m referring to graphics, such us as Skyboxes, Visor textures (Which by the way look so real, and even better in Halo 3), Armor textures (Especially for the Covenant vehicles and armor), Explosions and Scenery. If 343 had just mixed Halo CEA and Reach together, visually, a beautiful baby would have been born. I think with regards to design, 343 went in the wrong direction, they should have looked back at Halo 3 for guidance and built upon Reach. They should have used the posture of the Halo 3 Spartans, with Reach armor permutations and more.

The addition of the Firefight voices would have been great for Spartan Ops and they should have advanced Firefight. So much could have been done with Halo 4, but I just feel that 343 went in the wrong direction, all intentions where good, but they didn’t forge the best creation they could have. I really hope they just look back at past Halos for guidance on how to design Armor, textures, scenery, Gameplay, music (Although the music in the game was alright, the same tone seems to be used for every type of scenario, even scenarios that should have induce different emotions with in the player) and weaponry, with a few other additions.

They nailed the physics and the field or vision, but they didn’t do so well for other things, as an example: allowing players the ability to spawn with a plasma pistol, instead of adding map vehicle killers like the Power drain and Missile pod from Halo 3 and sticky launcher in Halo Reach, really took away the possibility of variety. Even things like the lighting seem a little flawed, it was done perfectly in CEA, but everything seemed too brought in Halo 4. But that’s just my opinion, sorry for going off topic a little

H4= Iron man armor
HR=…bulky dirty tank with your -Yoink!- hanging out
H3= combo of HR and H4 with groin waist and butt plate

Reach armor looked great, Halo 4 armor looks like toy action figures.

I liked the realistic look and attachments/gear of Reach armor. It could get way too bulky though.

I like the greater range of customization Halo 4 has.

Halo 3.

I’ve hated all the returning armor in Halo 4 because it doesn’t work as it did in Reach. Reach was a much more human and grungy environment, whereas Halo 4 is shiny and futuristic. I don’t think the armor transferred well from one to the other.

I am really at a loss for words…I can’t believe people like Reach armor so much. The spartans looked so stupid running around it in. Everything was so blocky and square. Everyone had two giant square plates strapped to their shoulders and a giant pack strapped to their chest. I swear everyone tried to find the bulkiest armor they could. And this was posted in a different thread…it was like everyone went to the gym and skipped leg day. Super bulky crap up top and nothing on the legs. And the secondary color locations were terrible! Looked like every spartan was wearing tube socks up to their knees!!

I agree with many of you that there are too many redundant pieces of armor and too many meaningless variations, but I like the sleek look of the spartans. People say that Reach armor looks like what a spartan would wear into battle…I don’t think so. The last thing a soldier wants to take with him into battle is bulk. He wants as little gear and bulk on him as possible so he doesn’t snag on everything. Giant metal plates and huge packs are the opposite of that. All in all this is my opinion…H4 armor over Reach.

How can people like those big huge armors from reach they were strange.

Reach armor was absolute trash. the chest armor pieces werent even different, they just had shopping bags or other clutter placed on them. I hated the idea of a wrist piece thingamajig, and the utility piece was utter garbage.

And your emblem wasnt even placed on the shoulder piece of your armor!

I can totally agree that there are a lot of weird looking armor pieces in h4 tho. I think 343 went a little over the top in making so many pieces.

> Reach armor was absolute trash. the chest armor pieces werent even different, they just had shopping bags or other clutter placed on them. I hated the idea of a wrist piece thingamajig, and the utility piece was utter garbage.

The chest armor pieces were different, they all had different designs for their specified purpose, but they were built from the default armor like what Halo 3 did. Magazine pouches, and various pieces of equipment are far from what I would call shopping bags and clutter, practical and useful attachments are a more fitting name.

Honestly, I don’t understand why people want super slim body armor, it’s armor the whole point is for it to protect you. Magazine pouches, knives, extra protection, communication kits and more are great accessories to have in the field as they are valuable tactical pieces. If you wanted your Spartan to go into battle light without any pouches you could do that. While there weren’t any completely different armor sets in regard to the suit’s design, the base armor was designed with functionality and working across a broad spectrum of uses.

If armor in Halo 4 had a realistic effect on gameplay, you would only be able to carry 2 or so extra magazines for your weapon. Not to mention that most players wouldn’t be able to see straight, and many of the armors would do almost nothing to protect the wearer.

Halo 3 and REACH have had the best Armour.

Halo 4 went way too far. Most of the armor looks terrible. There some OK ones. But REACH and Halo 3 were never too over the top.

Except for maybe the Halo 3 Hybusa, but it looked pretty cool.

I am not a fan of most of Halo 4 Armor.

To those arguing that no one wears bulk to battle, put on a real flak jacket complete with plates, pouches, med kit, and whatever else you may need. It hangs on EVERYTHING, but you still have it. Why? Because its easier to swear at it than wish you had those extra mags or armor. Reach’s design over 4 all day.
