Reach - better helmets and colours.
Halo 4 - better everything else.
Reach - better helmets and colours.
Halo 4 - better everything else.
It’s hard to vote so so I didn’t (seems like a habit today lol), the reason is all have armour I like, I think the best thing about Halo 4 is the choice players have,
> > Wow, suprised to see so much support for Reach’s armor. In Reach ALL THE HELMETS LOOKED THE SAME!!! Really, you guys liked it like that?!

> Are you visually impaired? Other than Halo 4 reach had the greatest variety of armours, except they weren’t absolutely fugly like 4’s.
Really?

You can’t tell me that Halo 4’s armor is less diverse than Reach’s.
I certainly like that we can customize our forearms and legs now. With regards to shoulders/chest plates/helmets, it’s a mix for me. I like helmets with either large visors like Chief’s or eye slots like the EOD/Soldier. Chest plates though, Halo 4 is fantastical. Maybe not practical, but something you’d expect for 500 years in the future. As for the shoulder armor, I’d give that to Halo 4, with some slight few Reach ones.
Honestly though, I typically wear the default Recruit helmet in Halo 4. I just love that helmet. To me it looks like a mix of an ODST and the default Noble 6 helmet from Reach. That said, I’m playing for the Vanguard armor you get for CTF mastery. The visor isn’t practical, but man, I did the helmet otherwise and I LOVE the secondary color pattern on the armor.
I think design wise I prefer Halo 4’s armor but its hard to compare them. The armor in Halo 4 is supposed to be for the Spartan IV soldiers who are a lot smaller than chief or any of the Spartan II or IIIs and are supposed to be better suited for mobility and such since thats what they have going for them rather than raw strength. Lore wise, I think the difference is there for a reason.
I like my custom recon armor on Halo 3, Reach, and Halo 4. As long as i have the Recon, I’m ready to go.
I prefer Halo3’s minimalistic style helmets. Reach armour is super grainy, bulky, and over the top. Halo4 helmets are too progressive for my taste. I also dislike graphics on helmets such as stars, unsc text, etc. There are plenty of choices however. I will most likely stick with Rogue for some time. I would go with Eva if they didn’t butcher it. Somehow reminds me of a dolphins head. The lower portion sticks out awkwardly.

I definitely agree.
ARMORS
3 - Normal
Reach - Bulky, Heavy, Grainy
4 - “as my gf quotes” the armor, is “-Yoink!-” looking
Elite Armors
3 - No way
Reach - Definitely
4 - Ugly
> I like the venator rptr armor set in Halo 4 it looks great but Halo’ reaches armor makes them look more like huge tanks and that’s how Spartans SHOULD look. I’m in between 3 and Reach.
I agree. Halo Reach armor, as it’s already been stated, just looks more realistic. The armor permutations they have now are just derivatives of anime characters.
I’ll also chance stepping outside the scope of OP and state that the actual script and body animations in Reach were just much more realistic as well…
You could tell whoever animated Carter walking toward the falcon in the very beginning of Reach wanted to make him look as badA** as possible.
343i! Spartans are not power rangers, Halo is not a common shooter as Call of Duty, it is better, not ruin HALO!
Reach armor:
Spartans: 11/10
Elites: 11/10
Halo 4, in the one who reminds me of something “Spartan” is the Mk VI
I prefer 4 armor to reach. Reach was to bulky and contrary to other opinion’s, I see reach’s armor as bland. Maybe not bland color wise but, the armor seems “flat”, if that makes any sense. I also like the customization options such as legs and forearms in 4.
I pretty much enjoyed the overall styling of Halo 3 and Reach’s armor, I liked the fact the chest plates looked more bulky and like actual futuristic armor. The collar’s and the way the chest plates attached to the under suit is one of the best aspects of Reach’s armor. But I think Halo 4’s has more of a realistic and functional appearance to its armor, but some of them are extremely weird. Mjolnir is not supposed to have these sharp pointed edges like Wetworks and others do… it is instead meant to have Chest Plates similar to Mark V, Mark VI,.
I however hated the Helmet Attachments, Grenade Attachments, etc… of Reach they just looked pretty foolish, and ugly. They really no longer look like tanks walking around, unless you are wearing the Mark VI or Gungnir Sets for the most part, and that is one of the most depressing aspects of Halo 4’s armor sets.
Halo 3 in general nailed the design really well with the Mark VI, which looks decent in Halo 4, but I still prefer the Halo 3 version the most. It had everything, the bulky appearance, the rigid chest plate, the gritty appearance, and different color armor accent lights… which Halo 4 was suppose to have.
They also removed our ability to simply make our Mjolnir Under Suits default black… I hate having the Primary color spread all out all over the Under Suit, I should atleast be able to change the color of it. John/Master Chiefs Under Suit in Campaign is done so well… I love how the armor padding at his waist has the dark green coloring of his armor plating… and that is how the Spartan IV’s Under Suit should appear.
Somethings are done right about Halo 4’s armor, while some things are done terribly wrong, mostly the designs of a lot of the armor sets look like trash or to similar to Anime instead of appearing realistic and functional.
Halo Reach.
It’s not even a competition. 343i just goes for the extremely futuristic look, which doesn’t look good on this game at all.
Gonna have to go with Reach on this one.
Reach…but we all know Halo 3’s Armor and art style as a whole was the best. They should of stuck to that art style. Tweak it a bit…reaches art style was good but a bit too bland and gray. Halo 4 is just COD with a Star Wars skin which barely resembles/looks like Halo.
Halo 3 built on the Halo 2 style which was the best and made it look better. Halo 4 should of used an minimal updated Halo 3 graphics/art style. Halo 5 needs this and it needs to scrap all the gimmicks and COD features and make it more like a arena shooter like halo 1-2-3 and somewhat of reach with new maps. Add stuff like a gravity launcher or a uhh bubble shield gun. ADD SOMETHING THAT’S ACTUALLY NEW NOT “I r taek 4rom COD n say iz nu den i r say we taek hazlo to rootz gain”. 343i can do it. I know they can. 343i have made a brilliant majestic map pack and halo cea. They can do this! They can make Halo 5 like traditional unique non cod ripping off generic cod copy. I also know they can make a Halo 2 anniversary with ORIGINAL HALO 2 MULTIPLAYER. Halo 5 is gonna be released in 2 years right? Why not just release halo 2 anniversary with original halo 2 multiplayer with up to date patches and updates so we can go back to classic halo one last time then go to your halo 5?!
Reach. It has armor that actually has visors. And they look like normal spartans. Halo 4 has maybe 3 good armor sets.
Reach. Halo 4 armor is cool and all, but Reach’s armor sets had a very realistic feel to it. I also preferred the armor attachments in Reach instead of the armor skins available in 4.
Reach, and there are two things they need to do if they want me to buy another Halo at full retail: Add Elites back to multiplayer, and change the armor so it -Yoinking- looks like armor.
Either that, or make everyone happy and give people a slider of Spartans so they can pick if they’re a Spartan II, III, or IV and let them pick their armor that way and in certain game types make things different between them.
Take Reach Armors with Halo 4 helmets for personality, and we’d be perfect.
But use Reach art style to make the Halo 4 helmets.
In Reach I actually had a -Yoink-. In Halo 4 I look like some anorexic chick.
