Halo 4 armor question

This may be a dumb question (I haven’t looked into it much, trying not to spoil myself on armor), but how does the armor customization in 4 work?

It was pretty much a given to me that Halo 4 would return armor customizing but once I really found out about Specs it got weird…Because it looks like Specs in Halo 4 also give armor pieces and such. I know you don’t start unlocking that stuff until after lvl 50, but im still confused.

Will Halo 4 have armor customization similar to (or better than) Reach? Or will it have kind of a more basic setup like Halo 3?

The customization is better than Reach as far as I can tell. The Specs are non-cosmetic, they only affect gameplay. The specializations give you special armour and specs but once you have the armour you can equip any specs you want.
