Halo 4 antagonist

Who would you prefer to see as Master Chief’s nemesis in the new trilogy?

I’d like to see Faber the Master Builder as the main antagonist, he feels more like a villain, considering he’s the one who proposed the construction of the halo array to wipe out all organic life in order to counter the flood, and he executed Didact. He has that overall ‘bad guy’ feel about him. Although the Bornstellar-Didact might still hold some hatred against humanity after all these years.

On a side note, I don’t think it’s the Didact that’s inside that cryptum we saw in the E3 demo. My guess is that it’s another cryptum that was hidden within Requiem. I don’t understand people assuming it’s him inside, just because he was bajillions of years ago. Still, it’s a possibility that he got inside the same one (or another one) in order to survive the firing of the array, maybe he was remaining in Requiem for some reason and John discovers the cryptum. But that’s a bit too far-fetched in my opinion. I like to think that he sacrificed himself and the entire galaxy in order to destroy the Flood, thus being dead.

Anyway, what are your opinions/thoughts?

Faber can’t enter a cryptum,and i just think he’s an annoying charecter…

I think Didact is the main enemy,
But who knows. Now there is no guessing who the “Ancient evil” is with all this info
But I am still holding on to the Precursors.
We still don’t know what this is.

> Faber can’t enter a cryptum

Oh that’s right, I completely forgot about that.

I really think the Ancient Evil will be the Precursors. Faber never really seemed like an “ancient evil” type.

I thought of this before but I wonder, why would the precursors come back?

I hope we get to kick some precursor -Yoink- back into the stratosphere!

They said they would return in 100,000 years to test humans with the flood…which is pretty much now.

Maybe humanity will get caught between the rivalry of the master builder and the didact? Or an even crazier idea, maybe the master builder somehow is working with the precursors and the chief and didact will have to team up! But then where would the covenant fit in?

We are missing a lot of information about their specific motives, but some did escape during the war with the Forerunners.

Here’s what I think:

  1. What if the ancient evil is NOT inside of the cryptum?

  2. The Didact most likley won’t be the ancient evil. How is the Didact evil in any way? Not only does he show some sympathy for humans, but he also specifically says in Cryptum that he likes humans. The Didact never does anything that would make him evil, and even if his “hate” is just rage that the Librarian isn’t there to fix and calm him, that doesn’t make him truly evil. He would merely act out irrationally but not because he truly has a hate for Chief and the humans. Firing Halo was not an evil act. He had no other choice.

  3. What if Faber goes under a reverse brevet mutation down to Warrior-Servant status, somehow becomes a Promethean, and locks himself inside of a Cryptum waitng to be found by the Reclaimers so he can go on about his evil ways and survive Halo? After all, we believe that the ancient evil is the one saying “I have long dreamt of this day, Reclaimer.” Maybe Faber is dreaming of the day he gets found by the Reclaimers who let him out so he can continue being evil like I said.

  4. The Precursors are very likely to appear, but do we know if the Precursors are TRULY evil?

  5. The only reason I could think for why the Didact would hate humans, since we know that he feels sympathy for the Human-Forerunner War, is because Chief kills Guilty Spark, the last surviving remnant of Chakas that we currently know of.

Searching for their god, or whoever is in the cryptum. Surely, if a Forerunner was alive and the Covenant knew or thought so, they would go to extreme lengths to keep him/her safe from Chief and the UNSC.

I would like to see some Precursors. They are creepy and dangerous and would be an amazing enemy to fight against.

Even though The Timeless One is dead, I would like more Precursors to rise. I am sure that there are more, even though TTO said he was the last Precursor.

The Timeless One wasn’t really a Precursor. It was a Gravemind claiming to be the last Precursor.

Oh well, haven’t read Primordium. I know that spoiler part because somebody spoiled it for me. Thanks for the info.

The Precursors are the overarching villain, with the Didact/Prometheans being the temporary villain.

The Prometheans are at Requiem to defend against something, according to the Crawler bio I read awhile back. Requiem is a prison.

“We [the Precursors] are the Flood; there is no difference.”

The Precursors and the Flood are synonomous with each other; so yes, he was a Precursor, and a Gravemind. Maybe.

Then why would that particular Gravemind look vastly different from the other ones if the Precursors and the Flood are the same thing? That would also mean that the Precursors are really just some kind of powdery substance. It could also mean that Precursors can take on many different forms.

Perhaps when that was said, it meant that they are like one in the same, but different. It’s the same with God and Jesus. They both are often combined into one. God is the Lord and Jesus is the Lord. However, they are two different people, but often go under the same title.

Perhaps the Flood aren’t actually the Precursors, but more the voice for the Precursors.

Let’s not start a flame war for someone’s beliefs. I was merely using God and Jesus as examples.
