Well, Frank O’Conner has announced that Halo 4 will be an Xbox 360 title and will probably be the last Halo title on the 360, so now begs the question, will 343i pull off the second trilogy the same way Bungie pulled off the first?
To answer that, we will have to wait and see, but if we take a look into Halo games that have already been released, each one has bought something to the table, and every title IS a Halo game, whether some disagree or not, if the game has “Halo” in it’s title, then it is a Halo game. Im sure you know which game im reffering to here.
So im going to basically give my opinions on what each game brought to the Halo franchise, and i would love to see your input.
BTW, refrain from negative posts, we need a place to lighten up the joint
Halo CE: The word that comes to mind when i think about this game is WOW. Halo CE kicked off the Halo franchise and was the first FPS to be successfull on a console, unlike other FPS, Halo CE had a rich, thought out storyline which completed it. Unfortunatly, unless you had the crummy Xbox Connect, or a few Xbox’s linked up on LAN, multiplayer was impossible, but the kick -Yoink- campaign made up for the lack of multiplayer, and kept me entertained for years.
What Halo CE brought to Halo: Great Campaign Experience
Halo 2: With Bungie having more time to complete Halo 2, the Halo Xbox experience was completly fulfilled, with a rich campaign that also had a very good storyline, Halo 2 also brought online multiplayer to the forefront, and thus began the fun days of Halo 2 multiplayer on Xbox Live, i spent more time on Halo 2 multiplayer than i did on both Halo CE and Halo 2’s campaigns.
What Halo 2 brought to Halo: The Best Multiplayer Experience
Halo 3: Introduced Halo to the Xbox 360, and to a bigger and more vibrant looking world, the storyline for Halo 3 was comparable to Halo 2 and was entertaining and awe inspiring. The storyline was probably the most suspencefull of the entire series and kept me entertained through the many times i played it. The multiplayer added new layers ontop of what Halo 2 had built, and Halo 3 gave me equal joy online to what Halo 2 gave me.
What Halo 3 brought to Halo: Balanced Multiplayer & Campaign
Halo 3 ODST: Set before the events of Halo 3 and introducing new and interesting characters, i must admit, the ODST story never caught on for me. However, the Visr setting and the introduction of Firefight kept me satisfied. I spent many long hours on Firefight and i enjoyed every second of it.
What Halo 3 ODST brought to Halo: Firefight
Halo Reach: The farwell gift from Bungie had a very emotional and thought provoking campaign which flowed very nicely into the events of Halo CE, next to Halo CE, Halo Reach would have to be my favorite campaign, the objectives, the graphics and the storyline were just flawless. The multiplayer experience was good, yet left a lot to be desired, Armour Abilities were a great idea, however many of the abilities threw the balance that Halo had out the window and left no room for skill improvement.
What Halo Reach brought to Halo: Realism
So what can we expect from Halo 4? I know many people will be tempted to say Reach go back to Halo 2/3, but even if gameplay went back to the way it was, Halo would never move forward and continue to bring new and exciting things to the table.
Memories are in the past for a reason, you can’t get them back, the experiences of Halo’s past will never return, and pushing for them to return will only end in dissapointment.
