Halo 4 and MW3 (Must Read Opinion)

Lately, I have heard many people comparing Halo 4 to MW3. I’ve also heard people saying that 343 Industries is trying to copy MW3. I don’t know where these people are getting there ideas from, but they’re obviously not seeing the whole picture correctly. Lets start with the comparing scenario. First off, why would you even try to compare Halo 4 to MW3. The whole idea of comparing a modern-day war shooter that bases it’s whole game on real technology and realistic events that takes place in the near future; to a game that has it’s own unique form and bases it’s whole game on science fiction and takes place several hundred years into the future. The two games are nothing alike. Now for the copying scenario. 343 Industries is not trying their hardest to relate to MW3. People are saying that the whole load-out customization and join-session-in-progress is strait from MW3 or Call of Duty in general. That is a big fat lie. There are so many games on the market that already have these options built into there system. Are they copying COD to? No, they’re not. If anything 343 Industries seen the idea of these characteristics and decided to implement them in THEIR own game and in THEIR own way. This is off subject, but where do you think COD theater mode came from. Sure wasn’t their own idea. They took the idea from Halo 3 & Reach and made it better in their own unique way. To all the people that believe that 343 Industries is trying to be like Infinity Ward or Treyarch, you can point your finger, but there’s three pointing back. At this point I’m just rambling on, but I needed to get this point across. Shoot me a comment to bring out your opinion about the subject.

people are crying over a game which they haven’t played and the more and more info that gets released about the game the more I’m convinced the game will be a success the ONLY thing missing from the game being perfect is a 1-50.

I totally agree. Let the haters hate. Most of them have no idea what they’re talking about.

I can see where my fellow vets are coming from. All they simply want is CE style sandbox, no gimmicks, no AAs. Just the guns on the map and your skill as a player. It’s unnecessary chaff if you will. If it isn’t CE to some, it’s instantly garbage. Not that i think that myself (more on that later) though CE was a great game, sandbox was small but the weapons were useful (minus needler).

However, i am still skeptical of some of the changes and things like a proper ranking system need to be touched upon. Plus the Camo, Jetpack, Forerunner vision is another thing since i am not a big fan of spawning with advantages you didn’t earn.

Of course i do like the idea of Spartan OPs, sprint being nerfed, graphics look -Yoink!- (blows Reach out of the water and it’s not a bad looking game. Dull but not bad), the BR/DMR is making a return among some other things.

I am excited but unlike Reach, i won’t be fooled twice. I know what to look for.

I see where your coming from. I totally agree about the ranking system. That thought actually came up yesterday when I was reading my Game Informer. I’ll probably be posting about a ranking system tomorrow or later today.

yeah the BR and no Bloom and 1-50 and ill be happy

According to this video of Conan, there won’t be any bloom on the BR.

MS look at Reachs population “Guys, you better make Halo 4 somehow in the direction of COD, or else you can look for a new job”

Agreed they just need a proper ranking system 1-50 i will be very happy.

> I see where your coming from. I totally agree about the ranking system. That thought actually came up yesterday when I was reading my Game Informer. I’ll probably be posting about a ranking system tomorrow or later today.

Hopefully i’ll be able to see, i haven’t been to sleep yet and i’ve been up for a long time.

It’s not like i am waving my wand around saying “DON"T LIKE MY PERFECT HALO 4? -Yoink-! ADAPT!”. That’s not how i look at things, coming off Reach i can’t afford that. Will criticize and share my opinions like everyone else? Of course.

I will also approach this with an open mind. Will it get me flamed and ridiculed? Yup but then anything you say already achieves that same effect anyways so -Yoink- it.

I also have a feeling that many against any kind change because it’s an unknown to them. Unknown variables added to the formula that might require players to learn new concepts (again, not the biggest fan of AAs) and that scares players i think. Stick what’s with familiar and what works is how it goes for a ton of older players. We want to keep the advantages and gameplay we’ve had for the last 10 years. Anything that differentiates from that is total garbage, void of any benefits it could bring to the series and that’s a big problem. Not that we need another Reach mind you, screw that. Reach was the example of the change handled completely and utterly wrong.

Many say we don’t need change but that’s wrong. Halo will die out if the sequels do not feel like sequels but more like rehashes that only cater to a niche fanbase and it’s constant obsession with adding or changing nothing. I am vet since CE and took quite some time to admit this, it wasn’t easy. No sir, not at all. Not at all…

> oh god look another blind defender hahah… ummm i dunno what forum you visit but on waypoint no one is upset about anything concerning the premise of the game, WW3 or human vs covi LOL no one cares and is claiming this. The two games are nothing alike. Nothing? what they have many similarities, you really cant see anymore than halo CE-3 had on MW1-3?? like i said blind >_< Now for the copying scenario. 343 Industries is not trying their hardest to relate to MW3 really the perks, default sprint, rifle recoil, instant spawns, and customizable classes which were NEVER in the Halo trilogy seem to suggest otherwise… People are saying that the whole load-out customization and join-session-in-progress is strait from MW3 or Call of Duty in general. That is a big fat lie. ::sigh:: listen no one is LETERALLY saying that COD invented and uses these systems and halo is copying them. What they mean is that COD, which is the #1 and #2 on XBL and the most well known game to feature these traits, seems to be influencing halo the once #1 xbox title until Reach rolled around (and H3 being #2 to MW2 doesnt count since H3 was already 2 years old and stayed neck and neck with MW2 and beat MW1 and all prior CODs) There are so many games on the market that already have these options built into there system. if you cant see why insta spawns, announcing to the world weapons are up (not a cod thing but still), classes, and perks are not COD related and most likely detrimental to gameplay…then there is no helping you. You simply dont understand the intricacies of the halo trilogy that made it so unique. With these features halo is loseing what made it unique and is just becoming "a generic shooter

> lol where is your evidence of this? please please DO TELL hahah. there isnt any. the last halo that followed the fundamentals of the halo formula was H3 which was #1 and then when 2 years old stayed neck and neck with MW2 where it stayed til failo reach dropped.
>
> reach was change in its truest forms, AAs bloom and no bleed changed every facet of the game. and look at the results halo went from #1-2 to being beaten by a soccer game hahah

> oh yeh there is just sooooooo much evidence that halo needs change. Do you see sports rules changing? tetris? or chess? no. cuz a great idea stays great for a long time. look at cod, they dont toss the baby out with the bath water and for the longest they were beating reach with 3 titles hahahah

You’re missing the whole picture. What I’m trying to say is there is a lot of people out there that believe that 343 is trying so hard to be like Infinity Ward or Treyarch. Their not. By the way, most of the changes that they are making are for the good. If you don’t believe that the JSIP is good, then you must like getting destroyed when your whole team quits out on you in a game.

must read opinion it was not

The games don’t even play the same. If you step back and look past all the side gimmicks like loadouts and focus on what happens when you actually drop into the combat zone and start shooting things, they are totally different games. Halo still has shielding, no ironsights, vehicles, etc.

Seriously dude. That was just a wall of text.

Also the BR has always had some form of recoil.

The “perks” and weapon upgrades seem cool and fresh.
In no way are 343 going to game break like Call of duty does.
They said about 4 times in the podcast there will be no “god mode gun”
AKA no AK74u in halo.

being able to customize your load out and Spartan
will give you a deeper sense of the Spartan being YOU on the battlefield.
Also it will delete the need to veto an awesome map due to a non BR start AWESOME.

I’m just excited for a new halo game that isn’t reach. if you are a fan you should be too.

OP is in so much denial.

any game that has any sort of weapon customisation, unlocks, perks and other similar things got the idea from CoD 4. don’t know of any game before CoD 4 that had customisation and was successful.

There are no perks in Halo 4.
This may be true but you can’t always live in the past…
After all a game with the same gameplay all the time would be a very dull.

Well can you really say they are not? I mean they are incorporating many features that are well known for being in COD and NOT in halo.

Really for the good? well If my team quits then i just quit to? whats the issue? Though I can see how JSIP is great for social and to be honest if it is only for social then thats great. Though I know there are so many people who search BTB in full parties and just decimate randoms to pad their stats. Once they get weapon and vehicle control as soon as players leave unknowing players will jump in and be repeatedly spawn killed. I quit BTB every time its not a heavy gametype but yet still match up with a full team of inheritors with 3+ KDs. Its not fair to play against that and not fun so i dont. At best im playing super defensive all game while my team goes -10+ a piece.

to be honest i dont think any change detractor is agianst JSIP for social. What we are up in arms about is how this will effect when we play against other players who want to win and are knowledgable and experienced with the game. Thats how abuse of flawed mechanics occurs and something you wont see in social. Just like you will likely will never see how horrible jetpack is in reach unless you played onyx high arena and you see people abuse it to no end.

recoil isnt necessary, just decrease autoaim on the BR and keep the spread inside the reticule. Anyone who knew anything abotu teh BR spread just aimed for the chest between the elbows and jump sprayed for a head shot. Most great games are very simple and that was what was great about CE it was fun and simple but like chess had deep gameplay for a console game. adding recoil just distracts and serves no purpose that couldnt easily be done otherwise.

Sprint is also dumb, why not have athletic spartans who can run all the time and simply move at 120? on average they travel the same distance at the same time. Is the depth added with the choice of pushing a button to move fast really and not shoot better than moving fast in all directions to avoid being shot aka strafing all while traversing the map at high speed and shooting/ grenading. Last I checked doing almost 4 things at once was alot more difficult than deciding whther to push a button to move fast to more easily dodge bullets.

And i cold go on and on and on. But all the “innovations” they are doing are for the most part unnecessary and just do something poorly that the old system already had down and could have adjusted for. Wanna make htting with precision hard? up movement speed and decrease autoaim/magnetism. wanna speed up gameplay make the players not move like old ladies who have aesthma attacks while running for 20 seconds and have run at 120 at all times (also FYI 120 movement speed is about the average between default sprint and default reach granny walk). Wanna add interesting abilities? great! but how about we earn them like we do rockets?

like I said 343 isnt doing much of anythign for the best, they are just reinventing the wheel that goes to one of the greatest cars models to ever be made. Now please if you an actually counter my points with a valid argument then please do, id liek to hear what youhave to say. but dont just spout “H4 isnt copying MW3 since H4 is 500 yrs int eh future and Halo is 500.” That makes you look stupid even though you probably are not.
