So Sundance DiGiovanni the man in charge at MLG has been tweeting some very worrying things regarding Halo, COD and MLG.
“Halo stream @ Dallas had 40k watching at 1 point. need to get people used to watching competitive CoD. We got work to do”
“Also - with the help of folks like @OpTicH3CZ and others I know we can build competitive CoD to rival what we had with Halo.”
“Support from @DavidVonderhaar and the @Treyarch folks has been big. Biggest we’ve ever seen for a console shooter.”
“Again- I am bullish on CoD. Working on closing the details so that we can do it right.”
“Without support from MSFT / 343 we can’t run Halo. MSFT has a deal with -Yoink!- Gaming. 343 has expressed interest in working with us.”
“We’ll see how it plays out but time is short. As in - we need to get something sorted out soon.”
SOOOOOO, I was just getting my hopes up about Halo in regard to MLG again after Reach and now I’m worrying, what are Microsoft and 343 doing !?!? you should be jumping in bed at the first opportunity with MLG not doing deals with -Yoink!- Gaming !

No surprise there. It’s unbelievable how much treyarch supports their game and the competitive community. I mean just look at it. COD has a spectater mode AND ranks. What do we have? Developers that are on vacation and a tournament that’s based on amount played, not skill. LOL. I’d rather treyarch make the next Halo. It would be like COD, but at least it would be supported by a developer.
-Yoink- it, If gaming keeps on going the way it is. Ill take a break from it for a year. Im over devs and publishers not caring for anything but the -Yoinking!- money. Honestly I don’t even like MLG all that much, im competitive but MLG has never really interested me.
But if Micro$soft/343i keep on screwing the community over for more money… I dont even want to think about it.
I LOVE halo 4, I love HALO. But im over all this pussyfooting we have to go through just to get what we want.
I just wish we had a community leader or a spokesperson for the competitive community that was a forceful and aggressive as say Ready Up Live is for the social community. That community has everything they could want, and they’re happy.
We’re supposedly getting this CSR (but its on Waypoint so in reality…people wont care)
MLG is losing interest in Halo and concentrating on COD, (even though Halo made MLG what it is today)
MS doesn’t seemingly want to deal with MLG
The likes of Ninja, Nak3d Eli, The Halo Council, Ready Up Live, Ducain23 and the rest of the Halo community leaders/Youtubers will try and back up 343 on this because Halo IS THEIR SOURCE OF INCOME (Yes lets just say it how it is), if 343 decided tomorrow that Halo was to be a 3rd person shooter set in 1930’s France they would all say its a good move (I’m joking obviously but you see my point)
I feel like competitive Halo might be done. With the rule changes from H2 to H3…then to Reach… now to Halo 4. It is such a departure from what MLG was. I am really disappointed with how things went/are going. I used to be able to play MLG halo 2 for literally days and loved every minute (I mean I would skip meals and sleep to keep playing). But now I have to mentally force myself to stay engaged. The new “competitive” settings make the whole thing so much of a joke.
I was playing MM earlier and honestly a lot of games feel more like an 8 player octagon with sprint and instant respawn than anything requiring any strategy or teamwork…
They should customize the settings to be much more simple which would emphasize core components like shooting, strafing, movement, map control and teamwork (Like H2 - gametypes in my Fileshare (MLG Call Fire)).
Due to microsofts contract with -Yoink!- for the infinity challenge 343 if not allowed to reach out to MLG, -Yoink!- sees it as a conflict of interests, 343 is willing to work with MLG, they’re simply not allowed, Microsoft may have shot themselves in the foot bad on this one
The Infinity Challenge is a joke. Anyone that sucks at the game but plays all day/night can win it. That is not what tournaments should be about are you kidding me?! I like the fact that 343 has interest in MLG and I know it is true because look at the waypoint homepage. Also Kevin Franklin, the lead multiplayer designer, was AT the MLG Halo 4 exhibition. I think 343’s hands are kinda tied by Microsoft unfortunately. -Yoink!- “Gaming” needs to get out…
