My question is, would you of rather had how it is; Released on Nov 6 un-finished OR would you of rather had Halo 4 a year late with all the little problems fixed? Plus things like more and fixed game types, It would be much less random, more forge features, fixed machinima tools and Spops and campaign in theater.
The only draw back if you wanted it a year later would be no further updates or map packs to Halo Reach and every other Halo game/TV series/Toys would be delayed by a year.
> However, the Xbox One is coming out this year, so I think 343i really had to rush their game out. Also, to compete with other games on the market.
This is generally the reason why I think halo 4’s missing a number of features. They got pincered between having to assemble a triple A studio from almost scratch and trying to be out before the next console.
They probably realized at some point they didn’t have enough time, but couldn’t push it back without causing issues. You wouldn’t want halo 4 coming out November 2013, when there’s a ton of much better looking games coming out because they were designed for the Xbox One in the first place.

You’re exactly right. It must have been a very tough situation for 343i.
I think that a year delay could have fixed many of the “broken” aspects of the MP (unbalanced weapons, lag) but it would still be a Halo game that heavily borrows from CoD and Crysis.
I know they had a lot of work done outside of their studio on H4, they were probably expecting less problems than they really encountered. Trust me the first time around the vendors usually have major mistakes, even in my industry. You can send them a blueprint and god knows what you might actually get.
You have to expect this and plan accordingly, otherwise you end up in a situation where you have to throw something together and send it out. I’ll be doing this tomorrow :/, welcome to the world of deadlines and half–Yoinked!- products that even the manufacturers know should be better. but it has to ship!

What kind of question is this?
“Would you rather have a regular water cooler right now, or wait a while and get the fountain of youth, laced with diamonds and creamy white-chocolates!”
Of course I’ll take the better product, but the real question is whether or not an extra year of production time would actually have been beneficiary at all.

It would have definitely been beneficiary when it comes to features, bugs and balance, there’s no doubt about that, and perhaps even the quality and legnth of the camapaign and Spartan Ops would be much better as well. But in the end, the whole design philosophy behind the game would be just as terrible. We’d still have this game with insane amounts of auto-aim and bullet magnetism, random elements like personal ordnance and loadouts, and 343i would still have their undeserved overinflated sense of all-knowingness when it comes to the desires of the community. In the end, we still wouldn’t have a great Halo game since the main issues with would still remain.
For the greater good of the fans and the franchise, I would have preferred a later date with as finished product.
While I cant exactly quantify the percentage, I’m absolutely sure a very large portion of people were extremely put off with the problems that plagued this game upon release. The lag and amount of times I was dropped out of a match in the beginning almost cause me to leave the game.
Definitely when it’s finished. It does not matter for me if it’s 2012 or 2022. It is a Halo, and it’s always a pleasure to wait for a Halo.
It could be the launch title, but Halo 2 is just came out right before the 360, so a Halo 4 2013 Nov. 6 would be acceptable.
We would still have the problems like with loadouts and ordinance but the custom games wont be as bad and other missing features would be there so it should have came out this year.
To my mind, Halo 4 should have been developed and released as a launch title for the Xbox One. New studio, new trilogy and THE reason to buy the new console.

I agree with this 100%. Also, the Halo 4 campaign follows much of the same patterns and parts parallel Combat Evolved (eg. stepping out of the pod to see Halo, stepping out of the cave to see the beautiful Requiem).
Combat Evolved was a launch title, and so should have been Halo 4 IMO.
