So everyone can agree that the multiplayer for Halo 4 bombed pretty hard. When you start thinking about it, doesn’t that almost seem like a good thing?
I mean look at Gears of War 2, that game’s online was so horribly broken that they couldn’t possibly make the same mistake twice. Gears 3 came out in amazing shape by comparison and I feel the same thing coming with Halo 5.
You could argue that it would have just been better that Halo 4 was a good halo game, but now that 343 has seen the response from the world don’t you think that Halo as a series is much better off with Halo 4 being a failure to always be able to look back on and remember what not to do?

How is this remotely a good thing? Now that 343i has seen the worlds response that some how justifies their actions? No, 343i was being incompetent in doing what they did with MP. I do not believe they were so innocent in thinking that what they did with MP was a mere mistake, they knew how the community was going to react if Reach was any indicator of what would happen if they would to try to shove anymore of CoD down our throats and shocker look what happen the majority of the community doesn’t like Infinity. If anything I would be more inclined to believe they did what they did with Halo 4’s MP for -Yoink- and giggles.

You are just gonna take the first thing I said out of context? It’s not like 343 committed a crime. They did what they thought was the right thing to do. It wasn’t the best thing for halo and you’re just being downright insulting.

The way you’re making it sound is as if 343i had no clue what the reaction to a game like this will be, and since they now know how poorly this style of multiplayer was received they’re guaranteed to not make the same mistake again. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Now, if this is true, it’s a really poor reflection on 343i, as it shows they didn’t know a thing about the Halo community.
> If anything I would be more inclined to believe they did what they did with Halo 4’s MP for Yoink! and giggles.
Yeah I’m sure they wanted to throw millions of dollars down the crapper for ‘-Yoink- and giggles’.
They assumed the CoD gameplay would be popular, and they ended up being wrong. That simple.

Not the best analogy if you remember the disaster that was Gears of War: Judgement.
They may have permanently lost customers, even if Halo 5 turns out to be good.
Now that Halo 4 has passed, yes, it’s good to get that out of their system… who knows, maybe if 4 was classic, they might’ve tried that random garbage in Halo 5. Because of this, I understand where OP is coming from.
I’m willing to give them a chance until they show one random mechanic… then I’m gone for good.
No, if they didn’t need to learn in the first place. We need the MLG experts to influence the basic gameplay mechanics. With that out of the way, then they can add optional extra features.
> So everyone can agree that the multiplayer for Halo 4 bombed pretty hard.
Not really. While I do agree that 343I has a lot to learn, I believe Halo 4 MP was pretty successful, just not as successful as previous entries in the franchise.

Gears Judgment was missing a lot of key people in it’s development so I find gears 2 to gears 3 to be a better comparison.

I think the thing they wanted to nail down perfectly was the soul of the series/the campaign which I feel was done extremely well. They obviously didn’t want to bomb the multiplayer and they could have very well been out of touch with the community in that regard.
It’s safe to assume that: It’s a new company (all veterans of course, but still new to working with each other), they were handed a very important series and were under immense pressure. From the lack of some features you could also argue that the game was rushed.

I would agree if it were clear that 343i has learned from their mistakes. Unfortunately, I don’t think they have.
Why do I say that? Well, the fact is, while 343i has made a lot of bad calls with Halo 4, they have not acknowledged any of them. Someone who can’t admit their mistakes can never truly learn from them.
Worse still is that they appear to have made little effort to utilize one of their most valuable resources: the community. When one thing or another didn’t work out, 343i never stopped to concider what went wrong, or try asking the community how things might be improved.
I think the reality is that the people of 343i don’t think they have done anything wrong when it comes to Halo 4. Instead, they probably think that we, the community, just don’t appreciate their efforts enough.
I’m glad 343 admitted that they made mistakes in halo 4 and they stated that they’ll address them in future titles, I just hope they listen to what the community wants
I get what your saying, and one would think that they would realize by the decrease of population so fast. But lets just think for a second. Do they or do they not think that Halo 4 was a somewhat fail in comparison to the original trilogy? because halo 4 did sell quite a bit. So do they even look at the population and think that they didn’t deliver, or just because halo 4 sold so much they think it was an automatic success to them?
