This isn’t a super awesome idea (it could even be deemed pointless by some of you) but the thought occurred, should the A.I in Halo 4 be able to switch weapons just like the players can? I think it would present more of a challenge while trying to defeat the enemies especially on a higher difficulty. An example would be that an enemy spots you from a distance and uses a precision rifle to try and kill you, but as you get closer the A.I acknowledges this and switches to a close range rifle. So instead of having encounters that seem to get routine-like after a while it could be changed up a little bit.
thats actually a good idea

Thanks, Imo it would be something that wouldn’t ultimately doom Halo 4 if it were to be implemented. It would even be nice if it was an option you could toggle on/off in the Firefight game settings, that is if Firefight makes a return.
As long as they are not from Reach.
Covie AI in Reach = uber, op, god level, omniscient, BS. Their shots are hyper lethal. Their grenades are freaking annoying. Their melees are absurdly fast. Their corpses are bombs!! Their armor is stronger than a Wraith! If anything, they are Noble Six
Friendly AI in Reach = dimwitted, slow, lazy, gluttonous, hideous, limited, obnoxious, persistent, give-away-my-position, get-in-my-way, poor distractions (Covies turn their attention to me), lame, nerds, geeks, creeps, -Yoinks!-. And I will never shed tears for any who fell at Reach because of them.
Anyways, it is possible for AI to switch weapons like players do. See here (at 1:55, 2:11, 2:55). Something causes the half Flood to switch weapons and it isn’t grenade sticks (which usually kills AI), shield draining (it’s nearly impossible because of his super fast shield recharge rate), or enemy proximity (that doesn’t exist in H3). I believe it’s a well timed thrown grenade. It should be noted that he always leaps when he swaps weapons via grenade. Maybe Flood were going to have 2 weapons in Halo 3? Or maybe it’s a mixture of Flood and Elite AI…
I also think AI should carry up to 4 weapons at a time. It’s certainly possible in Halo 3. I had one clip where the half Flood had a shotgun, beam rifle, and 2 other weapons but only used 2 of them when coerced.
And rather than just changing weapons when a player gets too close, shields get drained, or stuck with a grenade, we need more prerequisites.
For example, responding to enemy grenade and weapon spam. If I was an AI and a grenade landed at my feet while I was wielding a precision weapon, I’d switch to something like an automatic weapon since I don’t have enough time to scope and get a headshot. I charge through the blast and gun them down or make a hasty retreat, laying suppressive fire. If the enemy was spamming rockets, I’d switch to something that would keep them on their toes, disrupt their aim, and make a hasty retreat to cover or just distance myself.

It would be terrifying, but damn would it feel rewarding knowing you completed LASO with those settings lol.
And to Sliding Ghost, thanks for the reply. Your post was waayyy more thought out than what was in my op lmao
dude be the hardest campaign ever! worse then Ninja Giaden on the NES!
Okay, making the AI too smart is a bad idea. However, the OPs suggestion of switching weapons more often to be appropriate with the situation makes a lot of sense. Good idea, OP.

But it would be more impressive.
Also, I take back what I said about Covenant AI. Change 90% of Covie AI and leave those Ultra Elites alone. I just encountered my first Reach glitch on Legendary: stealthy Ultra Elite :D:D:D

Why thank you. I’m very diabolical.
That would be epic. I believe it would be even more challenging then Reach.
