First things first: When Halo 4 was announced, I was so happy, but at the same time I was worried it would turn out as bad as Reach. After watching some of 343’s videos about it and information about it, I started to worry less, and I thought it would turn out amazing! Ever since the start of this year I have been subscribed to YouTube channels ‘BravoMLG’ and 'Halo4Follower’and EVERY single day I would go on their channel to see if there were any news about Halo 4 or even gameplay! As more of the game was being revealed, I was getting more and more hyped and most of my worries would go, I was so happy with things like the BR making a return, the jump height and running speed were more like classic Halo, Master Chief was back, ect. I really did think 343 would bring back Halo, not ruin it. They said the classic Halo feel would be back.
When I finally got the game (which I taken the week off work for), I enjoyed the campaign a lot, I thought 343 done well although I liked 1,2 and 3 more. Then for the important part, I played the multiplayer. For the rest of that week I played it loads, I was really happy with it, it was great, didn’t like it as much as Halo 3, but I wasn’t expecting to anyways. THEN, suddenly everyone started to know the game and unlock all these perks and Armour Abilities, it completely RUINED the game so much it’s unbelievable. At that point I realised, Halo 4 is absolutely terrible!! It’s just awful, no skill, nothing like classic Halo, maps are too big, DMR is just overpowered, loadouts have shotguns (bolshot), AA are stupid as hell, perks are one of the worst things…I really could go on and on and on. Most games I don’t even try on because I can’t be bothered as I’m bored and I still get like plus 10! It’s just skill-less, also with a bad ranking system, it’s just such a bad game. I play Halo 3 yesterday and I’m having so much fun, 5 years on by the way.
Anyway, I’ll get more into why I’m posting this now. So my parents asked me if I’m still enjoying Halo 4, which I thought was a bit random, why would they ask me that? When I said “no, I -Yoinking!- hate it” they seemed pretty gutted, I was like WTF? Why are you guys caring so much, but I thought nothing of it, because I have great, caring parents, I just thought that it was them being caring that’s all.
So anyway, today, Christmas. I wasn’t expecting anything to big, just maybe some games that I already knew I had and some films. My parents told me to leave the biggest one till last, so I did. When I opened it, I then realised why my parents cared so much about me not liking Halo 4 as they had spent their hard aren’t money on a Halo 4 console for me. I felt SO bad, I’ve never felt so bad in all my life, my parents are good people, they work harder than anyone around for their money, and it makes me feel -Yoink- they spent all them pounds or dollars if you’re American on the console, which I’d already said to my Dad a couple of weeks ago “I’m glad I didn’t spend my money on the Halo 4 console now I know the game is awful” For me it just killed my Christmas right then and there, simple as that. Not only do 343 not deserve the money for the console, but they don’t deserve the money for all the copies of the game they sold, they’ve finished what Reach started; destroying the Halo series and taking out what made Halo, Halo. Maybe a lot of you will think I’m just overreacting, but maybe it’s because I care about my parents like any normal human being does. At the end of the day, I’ve felt pretty bad this Christmas and my parents have probably felt gutted ever since the other week when I said I hate the game, they said they were searching everywhere for the console.
So yeah, there really wasn’t much point in making this post in a forum, and I know probably no one will care, but -Yoink- it, just thought I’d join in on more Halo 4 disappointment. I guess I’m done with this post and I’m also done with Halo, moved onto Black Ops 2, which I enjoy way more. Halo was always my favourite series by a long way, makes me sad :’(.
Here’s a tip for you guys at 343: copy what Max Payne 3 did in their multiplayer. When you’re in the multiplayer menu, at the top of the screen it will say something like “Aim Assist” and all the playlists underneath it, then if you press Y, it’ll change and say “Free Aim” (no aim assist), the same playlists are there for both aim assist and no aim assist. Do this with Halo 4, but have “classic Halo” and “New Halo” so we can play REAL Halo, and the 1 or 2 little kids that want to play with Armour Abilities can do that. I 100% promise you people will start playing the game more and people will come back to Halo.
Well, sorry for writing so much and being depressing on Christmas, but I know there will be a few out there that will understand and sorry if a lot of it doesn’t make sense. Hope everyone else has a good Christmas and a happy new year.
