It would most likely be the hardest and most competitive playlist with evenly matched players. Do you think 343 should add a 1 versus 1 playlist? Why or why not?
All of your thoughts count. Thanks!

I don’t think we’ll se a 1v1 playlist in H4 but if we did it would most likely be one of the most competitive playlists of the game. It’ll hopefully be in H5 though.
It was tried in both Halo 2 & Halo 3 and was removed from both as people constantly boosted and didn’t play by the rules (hiding, etc).
It’d be nice to have but I don’t see it happening.
I don’t know if I’m right, but there seems to be very few boosters/cheaters in H4. I’ve played with a total of 1, who was just a kid (literally) guest boosting in Regicide for the Assassin commendation, which obviously isn’t a big deal, though it’s still very wrong to do it.
But anyway, I don’t think there would be a problem with boosting in Halo 4, especially with a low population.
As far as hiding goes, there are much less hiding spots in this game then the other Halo games. And if people want to hide, that’s their choice and their loss in my opinion.
Just go around asking people to 1v1 you. Works all the time.
Haha that’s true Assassin 11D7! It’s just more fun for me in a playlist than on gamebattles, or after losing trying to challenge them because I feel bad
It’s much more evenly matched with CSR than random searching on Gamebattles.
It’d be doable if there was no AA

There aren’t any rules against hiding
I’d say it’s a more legitimate stategy than camping to say the least.
OT: It’d be a host fest quite frankly. Boosters would riddle the playlist, and I wouldn’t want to play an Infinity 1v1 at all.
There’d be no sense of control, just random jetpack nonsense.
A Slayer Pro 1v1 would be more palatable, but only slightly. I fear this game is quite lacking in well designed 1v1 maps, and the playlist wouldn’t fair very well because of that.
Were they to put it out there to the forge community that they wanted 1v1 maps, they might get some good submissions. But as it stands, an Infinity 1v1 playlist with dev maps that aren’t sufficiently designed would be far to chaotic to even be much fun, if you ask me.
Can’t hide in an octagon… And if some one tries to boost, who cares? All they do is sit there and give free kills to whoever they match against.
As long as party size is restricted to 1… You can’t control who you match against, so good luck trying to “boost” anyone other than a stranger.
Small Octogon - magnum, plasma pistol, 2x frags
Medium Octagon - DMR, Magnum, 2x frags
Octagon - BR, Sniper, 2x frags
These where some of my favorite things to do in Reach Custom Games when population started to die off.

Since 1 v 1 sound’s boring, I doubt the population would be high or have many player’s so boosting with a friend would probably be easier.

How can you boost with a friend if party size is restricted to 1?

You’d be surprised.

It’s more that people hid using exploits completely missed by the developer (such as in the walls on Haven or in a wall of Complex - both have now been patched). This was a huge issue in Halo 3’s 1v1 playlist (titled Head to Head).
Sure, you may get those who actually want to play the game properly, but there will always be one person out there who wants to ruin your fun.

I was aiming more towards the map exploits that were missed by the creator (examples above), of course hiding normally in the map is fine if that’s your play style.

The Head to Head playlist in Halo 3 had the max party size set as 1 yet it was still possible to match your friends pretty easily, obviously I won’t say how but it is entirely possible.
As others have mentioned, host also plays a huge factor in who wins most gun battles in a 1v1 setting, meaning that one player is always going to have that host advantage.

Pretty much this I remember Shiska gave out reasons why it was removed in halo 3 - cheaters , players boosting , etc . I doubt they ever going to add it in halo 4 because it simply had a history of not being a successful game mode in two games .
It was tried in Halo 2 and 3. Neither lasted, and it won’t work in Halo 4.
1-The maps are too big, with most being easily defended in bases, for a 1v1 setting.
2-Host will have an advantage. Until the next game, where we will finally have dedicated servers, this will always be a problem.
3-If custom loadouts are available, they can make camping easier due to the Boltshot and DMR/LR.
4-With the way the lobby is set up that players can leave the lobby if they do not vote, it can make it easier for players to join up and boost their stats, rank, commendations, or achievements.
…And that’s all I can think of. Simply put, Halo 4 is currently not set up for a good 1v1 match and to expect those 2 players to play nice. It’ll be dead on arrival.
I want a 1v1 playlist. But on Halo 4 it will not work due to host advantage. Hopefully in Halo 5.
no thanks, they may try and engage me in conversation, i’m shy
Okay, so it’s seems to be a no from just about everyone
anyone got reasons why it SHOULD be in Halo 4? God Bless you
