First off this is nothing more than wishful thinking…
I understand and agree Halo reach did not have an abundance of btb maps or btb worthy maps, but what it did have was big maps, on a larger scale than was needed for your simple 8v8 btb. If halo 4 has maps at all the size of halo reach’s I am simply saying 16v16 would be spectacular, I realize they are more or less on the final stretch of Halo 4’s completion, However if they ever have the ability and if Halo 4’s MM can handle that kind of strain, I would not be opposed to a mass TU.
Furthermore I have little to no knowledge on how video game making works or the ability of 343i’s Software or Programming, or even if the xbox 360 can handle 16v16 with the graphics of halo 4. A side Note Battlefield did it.
Anyways would you as the community like to see this, or am I without a paddle on this one?
I think it would be a great idea if done with the right gametype and map variant. However, I don’t believe that it’s possible on the Xbox 360. Adding on to that, if 8v8 lags in Reach, then 16v16 in Halo 4 will just be insane.
Also, I think you mean “Thinking” at the top, not “Thanking”.
It could be possible and cool, but the frame rate would suffer a lot. Section 8 Prejudice for example does have 16vs16 matches, but those usually run in 20FPS and drops to 5-15FPS when there’s a lot of action going on in the same area. And that game barely has any kinds of physics and the graphics aren’t really good. So, it could to see happen, if the rest of the Halo games would come to next-gen Xbox.
For me, more players doesn’t equal more fun. MAG is the perfect example of this. It’s true, reach’s maps, particularly boneyard were much too large to be properly utilized for 8v8, but they wouldn’t have been balanced correctly for 16v16 either. I’d rather have maps that are designed around 8v8 from the beginning without invasion in mind.
I would like to see a gametype that could reasonably support that many people. Possibly a Battlefield-style gametype (I’ve only played BF 1943, so that’s what I’m thinking of) big maps that allow use of dropships and possibly Heavy Assault Platforms like Scarabs.
But like people are saying, might have to wait until next Xbox.
If a game like battlefield with more advanced tech can manage 16v16 with jets and other vehicles, Halo can. There is no logical excuse for not being able to manage this large amount of players. Minus the fact dedicated servers are not on halo yet. But that is largely the Dev’s fault for keeping the P2P formula.
