So, on the Steam version of MCC, when I go into Settings>Gameplay>Change Installed Games and check the boxes for Halo 3 campaign and multiplayer and hit “accept selection”, it doesn’t download. Whether I’m in the game or exit the game, it won’t download. I had this issue a few days ago, decided to wait and see if it got fixed, but it still isn’t working. Installing through Change Installed Games worked fine for all the other games. Anyone know what’s going on, or if Microsoft knows about this? Or am I being an idiot and missing something simple? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Alright, it seems I’ve made an oof. I didn’t have enough space on my drive, and once I cleared some, I could install the game. Now, that’s pretty stupid on my part, but I also kind of feel like MCC could just tell you if that’s the problem. It would have saved a lot of time. Leaving this up in case anyone else has the same problem.
You’re not along on this. There is NO good progress indicator. is it DLing? is it installing? was there a problem?

Did you have do anything extra after making space on your drive? I had the same issue and then made some space but now it still wont install. I’ve tried restarting everything.
I’m having the same issue but on xbox gamepass version. Halo 3 says its downloaded and I have more than enough space for it but when I try to play halo 3 it says I still have missing content

Still have no fix for it, I’ve tried uninstalling, rebooting, re-installing. I have no Idea what to do.
apparently youre supposed to delete all Flight Files for MCC before installing the other content. Try C:\Users<UserName>\AppData\LocalLow\MCC. In files and see if that works
Hey guys, so my friend figured out how to solve it via calling up microsoft. I was having the same issue and had to post this here to help you guys out if your having the same problem.
I had all other versions downloaded on the MCC but for some reason Halo 3 would not download and was obviously unable to play it. and was pissed lol. This is thru the xbox pass btw.
So what you need to do is download all Xbox apps on the Microsoft store.
- go to windows, settings, apps, - search this list, type xbox, you should have 6 or 7 xbox related apps installed.
- xbox
- xbox console campanion
- xbox console camanion - beta
- xbox game bar
- xbox insider hub (this one might not be needed, but i had it already from something else)
- xbox live
- xbox one smartglass.
This sounds nuts but i did it and it worked. try it out.
I think I found the solution (worked for me). I had this same problem for days. Uninstalled a number of times. Finally I went to the microsoft store and saw that I had a pending download(Top right). Halo 3 was in the queue so i clicked download. It then downloaded a 10mb file and I was then able to play! Hope this helps!
