Defense Grid: The Awakening will be
Major nelson tweeted out about Halo 3 and Assassin’s Creed 2
Well then… where did everyone hear July?
> Well then… where did everyone hear July?
While both Halo 3 and AC2 were mentioned at E3, MS said “2 titles we will roll out in the next few months, AC2 and Halo 3”. A lot of people just thought “oh next month!”
> Well then… where did everyone hear July?
Fair play they didn’t say July, but the fact they said two full games at the conference and didn’t mention anything about Arcade games is a little saddening.

[Q. What kinds of games are included?
Games will be a mixture of fan-favorite Xbox LIVE Arcade and Games on Demand digital titles.](http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live/games/games-with-gold)

Ugh. At least release an actual fan-favourite, I’ve never even heard of the one they are releasing tomorrow.
What, defense grid is a fan favorite…pretty sure Castle Crashers was at the top of the popularity list for 4 years straight
I feel like this needs to be bumped just so people know what’s going on

Exactly. It was never implicitly stated. You can’t hold them accountable for what other people assumed. I never understood why people thought both were being released this month.

i’m not in a hurry though. having a ps3, whenever a title with multiplayer becomes free to ps+ members the default non-dlc playlists end up being filled with beginners. no doubt the same will happen with halo 3.

Microsoft has hit the oh -Yoink- button when that picture started appearing…
However, I havent been able to download anything and it’s 3:24 Eastern time here.
Actually, Microsoft changed the wording in their press. They originally said that this Games for Gold program would be starting next month (July) with Halo 3 and Assassin’s Creed II. That’s still really vague wording, but I would argue that it seems apparent that they were planning to do those two games as their first in the program, and then backtracked. I clicked the link to the original press release, and the wording was changed to say something along the line of “including two popular games: Halo 3 and Assassin’s Creed II”. It did not say that originally.
It would have been smarter to put a triple a title in july.

They never gave a date in the original reveal during the reveal at E3. They simply said Halo 3 & Assassins Creed 2 would be two of the games eventually released, not that they would be first.
Do you actually have proof that they change their press release, post-E3?
Watch this video and start it at 0:58. He specifically states “To kick off that program…” suggesting that those two games will be released at the beginning of the program. I suppose that it was just poor word choice since nearly everyone assumed Halo 3 and AC 2 were going to be released in July. Just take a look at some of the topics in the Halo 3 forums as well as the articles written by reputable gaming sites. Microsoft had everyone fooled.

This is why Microsoft Blows. Like why advertise two very popular games and just be like “Hahaha, You wish we’d give you those.”
Just because that game is released free this month doesn’t mean Halo 3 isn’t as well. They’re going to release TWO free games every month, so maybe Halo 3 on the 16th? Who cares anyway, we all have it. The only benefit will be increased population. Hells yeah!
Yes they did say in July. I am surprised it’s not out. I had been waiting to download it. Figures
