Halo 3 Mechanics. Game, Set & Match.
It took more skill in Halo 3, I have found that you need to analyse the position of your opponent and decide whether you want to lunge or block. However, in Reach I’ve found it to be more random for some reason.
So I hope the energy sword in Halo 4 is more similar to Halo 3.
Blocking a sword with another sword makes sense. Blocking a sword with your arm…does not.
I hated Reach sword fights just because after a certain number of “clangs”, both players would kill each other. Honestly, I think that’s pretty stupid. Both players should be able to fight until one of them screws up, you know?
I supported sword block in Reach because the sword is overpowed with sprint. As for sword dueling, it was stupid both players eventually died.
It looks like the shortened up the lunge for Halo 4 so we don’t need sword block and hopefully two swords can go at it till someone loses.

It wasn’t exactly a good function in Reach considering how connection based it was, it was completely random.
I’d like to see Sword duels just like Halo 3, only a Sword can block a Sword and you don’t die after three clashes like Reach.
Sword Block has no place in Halo 4, it doesn’t exactly make canon sense that you block full on Energy that should slice through your arm if an attempt is made to hit it.
Damn i loved the Halo 3 sword fights but Halo: Reach has the better maps to fight on only if we can combine the two for Halo 4.
I used to love a good Swords gametype in Halo 3. I’d love to see that type of swordplay return.
There were sword battles in Reach?

It also doesn’t make sense that Spartans hit by rockets don’t get gibs all over the place. The fact that sword blocking does a lot of damage anyway makes sense, and there’s plenty of simple explanations for why it doesn’t just slice through, since exactly how the block is made is left out for the sake of simplicity in animation.
Besides, be honest. How many times has sword blocking saved someone you were fighting, as opposed to when they weren’t even quick-witted enough to use it or use the post-block to their advantage? 9 out of 10? 19 out of 20?
Halo 3 Sword Duels are where it’s that.
I think Halo 3 sword duels are better. In Reach, you just kill each other.
There needs to be two swords then. I like to see a sword fight going on, but they don’t happen outside of FFA sword matches(unless the game “resets” and all weapons respawn).
Until then, the shield will probably be the only blocker in the game.
Halo 3 sword duels were better.
