> Matchmaking
> - No FF at ALL
Firefight Matchmaking in Reach is a joke. “Hey, let’s play Firefight! Oh, but what’s this? No survival! No challenge! Fuel Rods only! Final Destination.”
> - No Living dead perminate playlist
Reach is better in this regard – especially since its own LD has improvements in the works, whereas Halo 3’s stagnated and only ever had the same (badly-Forged) maps.
> - No Campain AT ALL
Reach’s Campaign Matchmaking is filled almost entirely with randoms who immediately rage-quit from the lobby if they don’t get the map or difficulty they want. The population is also pitifully low. The playlist may as well not exist.
> - No map voting AT ALL
> - No gametype voting AT ALL
The voting system itself is better in Reach, yes.
> - Halo 3 has a longer campain
…Which has more replay value, (ironically) larger-overall battles, more and better vehicular combat, fewer cheap tricks abused by the enemy AI, friendly AI that don’t constantly try to murder you in the most idiotic ways possible, a better art style, and the levels are all actually relevant to the overarching plot. Unlike Reach.
> Forge
Forge was massively improved in Reach, yes. I cannot possibly imagine having to Forge in Halo 3 again.
> Theater- Halo 3 theater can be seen by multable people in a party but reach you have to be by yourself
Multi-user Theater in Halo 3 was laggy and unreliable. 60% chance you’d be dropped from the party once the Film started. Loading time was massive, and everyone got to sit and wait at a nice blackscreen during that time. But of course, single-user Theater in Reach is useless for actually showing anything off in-game, and ultimately is only good for screenshots and for capturing Films to be rendered later.
> So disscuss
You forgot to mention the new Custom Game engine, which allows gametypes to be patched and extended post-release without the need for a Title Update; and the improved content storage and sharing capabilities, which (though heavily flawed) are considerably better in Reach. That and Forge are some of the few advantages Reach has – but those advantages alone are absolutely massive.
IMO: Overall, in every significant aspect except for standard gameplay, Reach is superior. Halo 3’s standard (typical Slayer/Objective) gameplay, however, was far better than Reach’s.
