Halo 3 versus Halo 4

I played Halo 3 and Halo 4 back to back last night and I found the Halo 3 Chief to be much more fluid in movement. There also is the floaty type jumping in 3.The 4 MC seems more rigid. I’m not saying one is better than the other, but they are different.

Halo 3 is Better in Multiplayer and in many core elements but Halo 4 also has its moments of epicness and it did bring some new epic stuff too. I Love the Master Chief (John) from Halo 4 better he is more emotional with Cortana and the connection between them is so awesome. But if you Love Halo both games are epic in their own way :).

Halo 3 Chief = Robot

Halo 4 Chief = Human

No. Just don’t. We don’t need another Halo 3 vs Halo 4 tread. all we’ll get is people screaming that “Halo 4 sucks” and “343 can suck it.” They are two different games and should be treated as such.

If I could play as an Elite in Halo 4 I would have no complaints.

But not being able to play as what i’ve been playing as since 2004 makes me simply not want to play the game at all.

I’m not saying one is better, just different. Personally I hate AR starts on Halo 3 and I didn’t like running around trying to find a BR. But MC in 3 plays more fluid and more organic.

I foresee this thread becoming nonproductive very quickly.

We were in a productive thread?

They are both sluggish and IMO suffer from an insufficient FoV (which may contribute to the feeling), but at least H3 Chief made up for his movement with a variety of jumps.

H4 Chief basically leans on Sprint. I cannot think of a moment where I needed to use a slide jump. That really came in handy in H2 and H3.

I’d really love to see H5 Chief have a greater jump height. And a flashlight. And reduced fall damage (he can fall longer in H4, it’s just that he’s unlikely to survive).

Omg, the flashlight. I want that thing back so bad…D: It served a good purpose in the first Halo’s campaign and I really hope they incorporate it again in future Halo titles.

Same here man.

I can think of many places where it would come in handy. But especially Forerunner and Composer. It could have helped add to the atmosphere of those levels.

I kind of find it funny actually. Cortana updates Chief’s firmware to make his armor more efficient while in cryo but she doesn’t include a working flashlight for him. T.T

Halo 3 hands down. H4 is okay… but the (admitted) catering to noobs, and the major backstep for custom games and forge in comparison to reach is beyond my patience. I can’t say I’ll be a returning customer if the quality keeps falling.

Just imagine what flashlight would have looked like in H4. It’d certainly have been a true light source (the headlights on the Hog and Scorpion are completely artificial, they don’t light up anything). I have to pick up the Light Rifle to compensate (when you melee with it, you can light up an area a little).

The op is talking about gameplay.

Halo 3 had a better UI, better music, a better Campaign, prettier art style, much better Matchmaking, and infinitely better Custom Games. As limited as it was, Forge was even fun back in Halo 3. Most importantly, the gameplay was smoother, simpler, and more enjoyable (especially the vehicles. Halo 3 by far had the best vehicle system). Oh, and Halo 3 also had Campaign Theatre, which was very enjoyable.
