As some of you know Halo 3 will be free in July which means that it could possibly surpass halo 4 in terms of uu ( unique users). Fable 3 was free this month and the games population boosted dramatically. In fact, on major Nelson live activity list fable 3 is just under halo 4! Here were the top 10:
- Black ops 2
- Minecraft
- FIFA 13
4.MW3
5.NBA 2K13
6.Battlefield 3
7.Halo 4
8.Fable 3
- GTA IV
- Call of duty black ops
Since halo 3 is significantly waaaay more popular than fable 3 is it possible that halo 4 will be overshadowed by its predecessor?
Halo 3 may shoot up for a little bit, but how many people that own a 360 and are interested in Halo don’t have Halo 3 already?

Says who?
Halo 3 from retail would be about 10 bucks.
A couple of months ago, Halo 3 on Games on Demand was about 5 bucks.
If the population hasn’t increased by that, what makes you think it will suddenly do so when it’s free? How many people out there really want Halo 3, but were constantly brick walled by something costing as much as lunch?
I don’t think that Halo 3 will surpass Halo 4 in terms of population as Halo 3 is so old the people interested in Halo 3 would have bought it a long time ago. It will obviously get a boost though.
I still play halo 3 to this day every now and then. It offers a better big team battle experience through SUPERIOR maps like Rats Nest and Standoff AND Last Resort (zanzibar) ANNNND Long Shore.

Indeed, Halo 3 has already sold well over 11 million copies. Assassins Creed 2 on the other hand might pop up on the chart since that game will also be free and only about 5 million copies have been sold for that game.
It probably won’t surpass the most current Halo game unless H4 drops down a few more spots, but I could see it passing up reach which is further down the list.
There are a few people on my friends list who are really excited for Halo 3 coming free. They traded in their copys to buy Reach, which is the reason I left Halo 3. The guys I play with didn’t own the game anymore. I imagine this holds true for a fair number of people and I expect a good percentage of the people who sold/traded their copys to get back on Halo 3, even if only for a few weeks.
I really hope this happens.

The majority of my friends no longer have it.

Same here. They all got rid of their copies so I never play it. I’m hoping when it’s free again they come back.
Halo 3 will be free, meaning that there will be more players for at least a little bit, and it won’t take an hour to find a match! YES!
OT: Doesn’t really surprise me.

You’d be surprised how much people would get something for free instead of paying for it, regardless of price.
Fable 3 had similar prices to halo 3, and look how many people are playing it now.
I’m surprised Reach isnt in the top 10. It only has about 5k less players than H4 at any given moment.
I’m sure Halo 3 will shoot up the charts.
Fable 3 is up there because it was free in June. Halo 3 should climb into the top 10 since it’s free next month. If Microsoft wants more people interested in Halo, they should have the free Halo 3 advertised on the first page of your dashboard.
It might jump for a little bit. But its a 6 year old MP game. It’s going to get old real fast.
it should be free and should also have only 3 or 4 types of gameplay. Slayer, Big team, Random multiplayer and whatever so in effect it is NOT the total Halo 3 and never will be. Only the newborns that haven’t seen Star Wars will be the ones to not have seeen it and that is NOT the audience stuff is made for.
so, yes, ALL Halo 3 fans might get out the dusty old disco just BECAUSE there will be SOO many people playing.
It’s nice to have a big block party once or twice a year but if you have to party all day and all night your an alcoholic and need to be in AAA. or is it just AA, anyway, i don’t drink i take pills lolololol ridlim me baby lololol how do you kick being addicted to online gaming??? lol the games are made to make me an addict lolol
so in a month i will be back killing skulls and dissing destruction on HALO 4.
Most likely, Halo 3 won’t surpass H4, but will draw some people away and bring H4 down even more.
Have 343, the people running this franchise now, even bothered to promote this? I haven’t seen anything from them. I’m disappointed.
If a terrible game like Fable 3 can make the top 10, Halo 3 sure as hell can.
