I am curious if anyone else has this problem. When I play MCC multiplayer, I seem to only lag when I play Halo 3 game types. I have tried wired and wireless connections and it is the same. I will get in game and lag so bad that I just see people running into walls and then I black screen and respawn…it happens the entire game. This only occurs when playing Halo 3 games. All other multiplayer game types are fine for me. So this really sucks because it seems every time I want to play MCC multiplayer, EVERYONE votes for the Halo 3 choice. I know some of you smartasses are going to say “just play Halo 2 bro, just play Halo 4…blah blah” I like playing swat and Halo 3 is included in that. I also love slayer. So does anyone have any input. My detailed network stats are as follows:
Download: 59.89 Mbps
Upload: 11.91 Mbps
Packet Loss: 0%
MTU: 1480
Latency: 80ms
I used to experience this as well. Halo 3 just gives unbearable lag at times. When you get those games you might as well just quit. You can’t even jump or reload your weapon, yet alone even think about shooting people. The last patched seemed to help with me but I still get it from time to time. Only thing you can do is not vote Halo 3 and wait for the next patch.
I just had a lag in coop with a friend. All the mission long. Quite unplayable!
To me, it reminds me of 6 years ago!.. Example of an intercontinental match right here on Halo3 on the 360.
I can tell the difference between a match where we’re all reasonably close to each other and when we’re likely half a world away, all of us! And it’s exaggerated most on H3 in the MCC.
Other than that, one can be unlucky and actually have to go through a lot of routers between server and themselves. All that parity loss can add up and those checks can cause bullet refunding or plain missed shots in spite of looking like they hit.
Actually, my IP for the longest time was choking videogame player traffic though they did not tell us… They got in trouble for it but it’s not like perhaps that isn’t going on and there are new ways to hide it happening.
… Make sure you have a modem that is no more than a year old… Perhaps 2. Some people are lucky and they always had a good IP or know a guy that always gave very quick switching routers with gaming priority but others are false advertisers and cannot perform well when actually playing a game.
Sometimes you still have to set your router in spite of it being good.
