Halo 3 recap of ending: Flood?

I have not played Halo 3’s campaign since Reach came out and I forget exactly how it ended. I know most everything EXCEPT for how the flood died (or did they?) I know that chief blows up the ring while he is on it, and the covenant are allies from then on out,but what about the flood? The flood were infecting the entire universe, you can’t tell me that all of them went to the ring and died from the explosion so there must be more out there, but people keep saying the flood is not a problem? Did the gravemind die and the other floods are mindless drones know? If thats the case, then all they would have to do is make another gravemind which is possible (Search Gravemind on the Wikipedia).

If someone could give me an answer to hwo the flood is defeated, that would be great

“With the Gravemind destroyed, and all the Flood on the Ark gone, it is probable that the Flood still exist on the other Halo rings, excluding Installation 05 (although it is possible that not all of the Flood on Installation 05 left and there are still some there, since Installation 05 was never destroyed), or any other remaining Forerunner Installations.” - Halo Nation

The Flood are still out there, but with their numbers thinned so drastically and the Gravemind destroyed, they would have reverted to their so-called feral stage, in which their behaviour is mostly instinctual and random. Obviously, they still pose a threat, but until they manage to reconstruct a Gravemind, there will be nothing organised or logical about that threat.

I’m guessing the Flood still exists after that battle on the Ark and the new Halo’s destruction. However, with the Covenant gone, I’m sure the Elites are making an effort to eradicate Flood whenever they find them after learning how badly things got during their time in the Covenant.

The Gravemind we know is dead and so are his flood. There’s still a possibility that there are Flood out in other Forerunner facilities in the galaxy.

So at the end of Halo 3, it never really explained what happened to the flood? I guess that explains why I have no memory of ever hearing it. If the flood is an infection then they can (and probably will) grow in numbers and become a threat no matter how few of them there are, eventually producing a gravemind. Though that probably won’t be for another few thousand years after Halo 3. I think its funny how humans and the covenant can defeat the flood even when the Forerunners couldn’t.

Where there are halos there are flood. So ofc flood still around was there ever any doubt.
As for halo 3s ending you see one of the arks getting destroyed but there is another Ark,
also from the books its kinda hinted that the ark in h3 didnt get totally destroyed as humans are there recovering data from the thought to be destroyed 343 guility spark.

cant wait to see spark come back, ofc 343i will want to bring him back somhow lol
