i have been playing halo reach for about 5 months and decided to get halo 3. i played the campaign and went into multiplayer but i could not understand the ranking system i would be a level 7 go to a diffrent playlist and then i have no rank again. are the ranks specificaly for playlists of something?

This belongs in the Halo 3 forums.
Anyway, each ranked playlist in Halo 3 give the player an individual ranking. You are ranked based on your performance in each playlist.

Your best bet would then be to head to General Discussion next time, or to the matchmaking forums. Both are more appropriate for this discussion and more active than the Halo Universe.
