So I’ve heard in multiple places that 343 released Recon to everyone in Halo 3, at least everyone who has XBL, but none of my profiles have it. Do it need to go to bungie.net, or what?

Since Bungie no longer supports Halo on its servers, there is probably no way for any new accounts that play the game to get it. I could be wrong though. How long have you been playing Halo 3 and what version do you use? The original or the MCC collection version.

Original Halo 3. My oldest Live account I started 3-4 years ago.
I know Bungie has moved on, I’ve heard that 343 handed out Recon to everyone.
They handed it out in waves a few years ago. I imagine you needed to be playing Halo 3 at the time of the wave or at least had recently played it.
Yeah I got mine years ago. I’ve also heard some people say they only have it when they put in the Mythic disc from Halo 3 ODST (not the case for me). I hope you didn’t get passed over because I’m pretty sure it’s impossible now :/.

i thought it was unlocked for everyone now.
you should ask 343’s support about it, i don’t know if they will/can do anything, but maybe you will find out what the deal is, and if you find out let know if you don’t mind so i can tell others about it.

Recon is no longer available to be unlocked I’m afraid. After 343 took over from Bungie they did a few waves of unlocking for active players, but those services has now been retired so Recon cannot be unlocked. This also includes unlocking via Vidmaster achievements

no you can’t get it at all the achievements required bnet account to be activated with a button

Not true, this does not work anymore and stopped working years ago due to activation having to go through Bungie.net.
Unless you got it back in the day you cannot unlock it.

Recon was handed out by 343/Bungie during the final steps in the acquisition of assets. After 343 had full control over the Halo properties halo 3 saw a final few patches and waves of Recon before finally being left alone by 343i. The servers in which Halo 3 Recon was given out/unlocked has been retired which make it very slim that any players who don’t have Recon will ever be able to obtain it. This is also makes the possibility of Halo 3 Bungie Chestplates ever seeing the light of day again very slim. However 343i is still able to update Halo 3 so if there’s any chance to make the Recon Armor a default armor classification then it could be unlocked by everyone upon logging onto the Halo 3 servers. I apologize if there are any incorrect facts this is all to the best of my knowledge. I had spoken to some of the devs during RTX Austin at the Halo booth while testing out Halo 3 BC about this along with file share coming to HaloWaypoint for Halo 3 like it was on Bungie.net. It didn’t sound impossible for them to do, but it didn’t sound likely.
