Halo 3 population in 2018

How come the population is so low now? I get that it’s an 11 year old game but reach is similar in age and it’s population is great! And it is such a shame because everybody I knew goes on about how great the multiplayer is. I cannot get the MCC because I’m on a fixed budget. I went in knowing that the population would be less than 5000 but I didn’t expect such a small number of players. I really wish that there was a sort of event to bring some players in. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

It’s a shame. You can really only find games in Social Slayer and Lone Wolves. I remember when there used to be like a million people on at one time.

MCC takes most of the attention and there’s also thousands of games that have been released since then. Everyone focuses on different games now. Shotgun blasts have a tighter, focused areas than most gamers now days

Yeah sadly. And the people there are either extremely good, extremely bad or hackers. Such a sad playerbase.

Yeah, only Lone Wolves and Team Slayer…i wish to some people could play Infection.

Halo 3 infection is amazing. The old days of everyone playing Halo 3 were amazing. Wish I could relive it.

From 3-8 April 2018 I am trying to get the big team battle playlist for halo 3 360 playing again. Send me a message and friend request if keen! Remember to download all the maps for free!

kk. I am available all weekend

It probably had to do with the jtagger plague around when BC was released; practically every other game had one person flying around the map with an aimbot and EXP modding. They were around during H3’s dormant years, but a lot of them came back to wreck havoc during the BC launch. I’m assuming not a lot of players have the patience to put up with them and thus jumped ship. Either way, what a shame.

Yeah I miss infection in halo 3, it felt nice and well balance to me.

Halo 6 needs to bring everyone back together in Halo. Back in the bungie days, most people would stick to the new releases (with the exception of reach). Now, here are all the different ways people are playing Halo:
Halo 5
Halo Reach
Halo MCC
Halo Online
Halo 3 (360)
Halo 2 Pc
Halo CE Pc

Im pretty sure the reason why generally the halo games appear to have a low population is because the population is split between so many games. Overall, im guessing theres probably atleast 40k players across all halo games.

There’s also an oversaturation of other games too, not just Halo games. Back then, if you were on XBox, you probably were playing Halo 2/3. Then COD:MW2 and Gears 2 came out so many quit from Halo 3 after 2-3 years (mostly cause it became frustrating and boring though in similar fashion as Halo 5 is now; too much randomness getting in the way of the foundation of Halo). At that point, it was hard to like Reach or Halo 4 since other games were fun and friends started playing other stuff.

If only they could bring back the true Halo CE experience. Halo CE PC was terrible when it came out on PC and MCC displays it as just that. There are things that just didn’t work mechanically, like most importantly the Pistol doesn’t share the same bullet magnetism characteristics making it not feel the same at all, and combine that with the newer controllers don’t function the same as far as aiming (or maybe it’s just me where my brain can’t tell my thumb where to place the reticule anymore cause the aim acceleration is causing my reticule to go all over the place). Another example is that Sidewinder has 2 OVs and Invis in the middle where there used to be 1 OV and you could slide between using a Ghost (what was Bungie thinking, not that I am surprised); now, when you try the slide you end up out of the map, looool. Aside from the Multiplayer, even the HCE campaign doesn’t feel the same in some parts, but that isn’t as important.

I see what you all mean we need conventions for all the old, forgoten, fun halo games everyone seems to disvalue.

Wanted to make a correction here. I recently discovered that many of the XBox One controllers have/had faulty right sticks. I don’t know if it’s hardware or software, but my 3rd (2nd Scuff) I received recently seems to be giving me back my control I once had years ago.

That is well said. I used to play a bunch of new games as they came out, but after taking a break from gaming and coming back all I’m consistently interested in multiplayer-wise is Halo. But my buddies play every major release that comes out.

Edit: Oops! I saw the month but did not realize I was replying to a year old comment. I apologize. My response stands, but I didn’t mean to contribute to the necro.
