Halo 3 playlist is absolutely brilliant!

Can i just say that the halo 3 throwback playlist is beautiful and it needs to stay! its absolutely a step in the right direction and even if the halo community loves halo 5’s game play, i dont see why that playlist cant stay in halo 5 and future halo titles as a legacy playlist permanently! if this playlist was locked in, its all i would play!

do you guys and gals think it should stay as a permanent playlist so all halo fans are satisfied and feel like they’re valued like the rest of the halo community?

While I didn’t play halo 3 and I’m honestly not the biggest fan of the clunky movement, I like playing it before ranked because I feel like I can really focus on getting my aim warmed up. I’m not that great at halo so having a nice social playlist to practice in is always nice and it is good for those with nostalgia for halo 3.

If it was a permanent playlist, they would need to change some things like the grenade damage and H5’s weapons for example.

the halo 5 weapon sandbox is quite broken i feel at the moment, replace the current battle rifle with the halo 2 version, increase the speed and lower the gravity just a hair width and weve got ourselves a real grunt birthday party!

No it shouldn’t stay. Halo 3 is a decade old

doesn’t mean it shouldn’t stay in the game.

A decade old game which has yet to be surpassed by its successors. The playlist should stay.

I have had more fun playing this playlist more than I have had playing halo in years. It’s crazy how much fun it is! I wonder why it’s sooo much fun?

That’s why you have MCC.

I like the fast, frenetic gameplay of H5. It’s like saying Super Mario World 3 is the epitome of the franchise - Mario 64 is ‘too complicated’. Some prefer the simpler 2-dimensional run and jump game, not everyone wants to live in the past however.

It’s great for a bit of nostalgia, but life evolves. I’ve been playing since CE - nothing like H3 will ever come around again - get over it.

There is a big difference between Super Mario and Halo though dude. Mario is a game that has stayed the same for over 30 years with only like minor changes to game play, while Halo has had huge changes with mostly each new game that has came out. As for Halo some of those changes for Halo fans are what is splitting the community in half. You can like Halo 5’s game play that’s fine, but that doesn’t mean other people are entitled to like it.

This why Halo 3 Classic is a good thing for Halo 5 so older fans would have something to like and play on Halo 5. Plus MCC is all good and fun, but doesn’t have that smooth game play that Halo 5 does. This is why more people are going to choose it over MCC.

I agree it is fun

Fun playlist, I honestly wish they would add a “throwback” playlist with H1, H2, and H3 that would be sick.

I like H5 too. Just not as a Halo game.

The enhanced mobility mechanics just don’t suit Halo at all, imo, and causes a lot of damaging side effects in the ways the game has to be designed to compensate for it.
I’m not asking for a Halo 3.5, I just want to see the core game be returned to what it was and have it be expanded upon in ways that make sense for Halo.

I feel the maps could feel a little bit less fake but otherwise it is truly a great playlist

I’d much rather have Halo: CE Maps as a playlist!

The difference between the NES and SNES Mario games, and the 3-D ones (SM64, Sunshine, Galaxy, etc) is almost as drastic a change to gameplay as old Halo is to new Halo. One is a lot more simplistic, the other you have much more freedom.

I look at the original game “Combat Evolved”. I am for the game mechanics evolving (but glad Armor Lock has disappeared). Maybe tinker with Spartan Charge a bit, but overall I hope Halo 6 is more like 5 than it is 3 or 4.

I do enjoy Halo 5’s game play don’t get me wrong, but it’s refreshing to me to play it with old Halo mechanics time from time. This why so many people were outraged by Halo 5 because it only release with 5 game modes (plus Warzone) and they were all ranked and none were social. This puts more variety and it keeps people coming back to Halo 5.

The halo 3 classic throwback playlist absolutely should stay as a permanent playlist in halo 5. This playlist is the most fun playlist on halo 5 to date! I absolutely love it! The way halo plays without sprint and spartan abilities is just amazing! The 1v1 battles are so much more rewarding and strategizing with your teammates is so much easier. I hope this playlist stays forever!

yeah, this is the best playlist in halo 5 by a country mile; i’m not optimistic about them making it permanent, but one can hope.

i will say, though, if they do keep it around, the actual map rotation and map/gametype pairings could use some work. oddball plays terribly on high ground, narrows, and foundry in particular. flag is similarly bad on isolation and snowbound. i also get lots of frame drops on citadel when looking towards mid, which is disappointing because i really enjoy citadel.

i’m also curious if stuff is weighted. i’ve seen a lot of isolation and high ground, and i swear i haven’t played heretic once since the playlist went live. am i mistaken in believing that it’s actually in the hopper? am i hoping for something that doesn’t exist?

I agree with what late night gaming said recently, the playlist isn’t perfect but its the most fun iv had on halo 5 in a long time!

I dont know about you guys but it seems like its got that special halo juju back thats been missing, like its not so sweaty you get burned out… but its not so casual you just dont care after 1 game. There’s that casual “just one more game with my buddies” feeling that halo has been missing for ages! its almost relaxing to play. that was bungies secret sauce for halo. They made it for everyone, a blank, balanced slate of sandbox lovelyness that could be made into whatever the community wanted it to be!
