Microsoft has poured cold water on reports that suggested Halo 3 will be released on PC.
Microsoft issued a statement to Eurogamer on the matter after the latest AMD beta drivers were found to include an entry for Halo 3.
The entry sparked speculation that the Bungie shooter was in line to launch on PC having released on Xbox 360 in September 2007.
Alas, it appears this is not the case.
“We currently do not have plans to release any Halo titles on Steam, nor do we currently have plans to release a PC version of Halo 3,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Eurogamer.
This isn’t the first time we’ve whispers of Halo launching on PC. Last month a Steam database found listings for Halo 2 and Halo 3. Halo: Combat Evolved received a PC port in 2003 courtesy of Borderlands studio Gearbox Software.

They have not said that it’s never coming. They said they do not currently have plans to port h3 on pc, which in -Yoink!- language means they don’t want to announce it yet/not ready yet.
Hope lingers. For me, at least.

It’s -Yoink!- BS. They only talk about the registry and point to the AMD updates. Totally skip around the fact that Valve added an Official Group and a Game Hub for Halo 3 to Steam. Something had to have been discussed for Valve to implement those.

According to -Yoink!- they were testing entries on steam, which is pure BS like you stated, because why choose a game like Halo 3?

If they do bring Halo 3 to Pc, I just hope we have a variation of Custom Edition and possibly some graphical improvements.
Lies! H2V was released three years after the XBOX release! Not to mention they can justify the release of H3 with ODST combined considering the games are old. Also, why is Halo 3 in the registry on Steam? -Yoink!- just fooling around with some Steam ideas? Yeah, no. They could use any name like skfhsi to test their entries. Two weeks ago Halo 3: ODST Campaign edition was registered on -Yoink!- servers, and I told everyone it was coming for Games on Demand and nobody believed me. Well guess what? It’s there.
Halo 3 is coming to PC, and yes I just now realized I’ve replied to this before.
It is a hope that it will come to pc and/or mac.
Halo 2 Vista support has been extended until June 2013. And in June 2013 there will be the E3. Maybe Microsoft is going to announce something during that event.
I’m curious about a few things.
Why aren’t Halo 3 or Halo 4 on PC? And are there plans to do so for Halo 5?
If you think about it, Microsoft (indirectly) owns Halo now, not Bungie. Microsoft also owns Windows. It only makes sense for them to have Halo on the console AND on the computer.
It would also help them compete with franchises like Call of Duty, since those are multi-platform as well.

Funny? I can’t see the word never, they said the same thing about Halo 1 anniversary before they ported to 360.
I certainly hope so! With Halo 2 Vista’s servers shutting down, we might see Halo 3 for Windows 8 as a way for them to promote Windows 8 and get more people to buy it. I don’t know, one can only hope…

My copy of Mass Effect says “only on Xbox”, too.
Oh the irony. 
Microsoft will release it on pc. They will likely only put on Windows 8 but it will be on there. But it would be quite hard for halo 3 to be ported to pc. It lagged on the Xbox sometimes so imagine on an average quality pc. But they better bloody release it as I have been waiting since 2010 for this. They just took their sweet time on it.

Remember how it was 3 years before H2 Vista came out?
Remember that it’s been 6 years since Halo 3’s release, AND, they’ve confirmed no Halo on PC since.
