Hey everyone. My friends and I have recently dusted off the Xbox 360s and gotten back into playing Halo 3 online. We’ve been pleasantly surprised with the # of players and speed of matchmaking. COD wasn’t doing it for us so we had to go back to our roots!!
Anyway, I’ve been a little disappointed with the map selections in social slayer. We’ve logged plenty of hours but seem to get boundless, valhalla, and last resort more often than not which is frustrating. I’d love to see more of the pit and guardian (LOVE those), plus we’ve NEVER gotten most of the other maps such as isolation or the foundry which were two of my other favorites.
I have all the map packs and everything downloaded, plus maps like isolation came with the core game. Does anyone know if there’s anyone still managing this who could tweak the algorithm or whatever has to be done to get a more diverse map selection? I feel like it could be an easy fix for someone.
Unfortunately maps like Valhalla, Snowbound and High Ground are much more likely to appear on social slayer due to the weighting. Why, I have no idea and it is so frustrating that these maps constantly appear. Guardian and Narrows NEVER seem to appear on social slayer, which sucks because they are amazing maps for team games. The weighting is not going to get changed though because Halo 3 hasn’t been supported for years.
OP do you know that you can play Halo 3 on an Xbox One via MCC? There are many pros including 60 fps, more playlists/maps, as well as tournament support. Doesn’t make sense to play H3 on a 360 anymore.
i think it would be a very easy problem to fix by making all dlc to be required to play online first (though playlists with those rules are dead perhaps for that same reason). if you want to have a complete halo multiplayer experience (meaning you get to play on all maps) the solution is getting together a group of at least 6 people; that way you will be able to ensure you get to play on nice playlists such as team mythic where the maps you get to see are very different from what you would get on social slayer. you can make up the entire lobby. i personally would like to do this on halo reach to be able to play on dlc maps.

I agree and disagree. While there are pros and positives about MCC I still play Halo 3 on my 360. I was always used to the 30fps in Halo 3 and the 60fps throws me off. There is also something amazing still 11.5 years later about that Halo 3 menu screen. The updates and stuff are cool in MCC and I still enjoy them, but, nothing beats the original in my opinion.
