I played MCC at launch and i am therefore entitled to a free Halo 3:ODST. I can confirm that i have the golden nameplate and golden avatar.
Now at the FAQ page (https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/halo-the-master-chief-collection-thank-you-faq)
It says that the codes have been removed but are still redeemable and that i should go to these forums for assistance, so here i am.

Pretty sure if you didn’t redeem the code in that timeframe, then you won’t be able to get it for free anymore.

I thought so aswell but that is not what it says in the link i provided
“Redeemable” means that you can enter a code you might have received back in 2014/2015 and gain access to ODST. If you don’t already have a code, you can no longer receive one for free.

It’s probably “expired” since you’ve waited so long. Even though it sucks it will only set you back $5. See you on the streets of new Mombasa
The code won’t have expired but you’ll need to have a note of the code that was sent to your from Xbox Live in order to redeem it. Xbox Live messages expire after 30 days, so if you didn’t note down the code at the time then you won’t be able to get it back. XBL Support had a forum on their site set up for just over a year to help those eligible get a new code and redeem it, but that has long since closed down - that is actually the forum linked and mentioned in the FAQ, not these support forums.
