Halo 3: ODST sequel?

I have an idea for an ODST sequel. Microsoft’s Ryan Crosby has said in an interview that if the fan and media reception exceeds expectations and the need for a sequel arises they would begin development in a sequel. And I obsolutely loved the fact that ODST was a different perspective of the New Mombassa incident from Halo 2, a game that you weren’t the Chief. It was refreshing, the characters were well fleshed out, and the story was amazing. I think 343 should go that same route and make a sequel not a part of the Chief’s journey. I think we should get a game very early on in the Human-Covenant War, maybe even pre-war with the Insurrectionsists. We can be a squad of ODST soldiers that do what they do best, drop first feet into hell. Something that we’ve never seen before in a Halo game (besides Halo Wars), a game set in the First Battle of Harvest or even the Harvest campaign. Or take the pre-war route and have a game where we’re fighting the Insurrectionists. I think we’re long overdue for an ODST sequel and I really think it should I be separate from the main Halo games just like the first was. What do you guys think?

I don’t know, as much as I think ODST is a good game, I certainly don’t think it’s a great game. Playing through it again reminded me of how boring the characters were, and how easy the game was (even on Legendary) if you had ever played an open-world FPS before. I enjoyed the mood and the style of the game, and how Bungie tried to make you feel more vulnerable (even if you really weren’t), with limited jump and grenade throw range. It was also nice to get a change of pace from Master Chief, because up until that time (excluding Halo Wars), all Halo shooters featured him.

I also don’t think it’s a game that necessarily lends itself to a sequel too well, or at least a direct one. You couldn’t call it ODST 2, because of what that would imply. It would be cool if it was called (for example) Halo ODST : Daybreaker or something, but not a “2” in the “series”. Maybe it could feature Locke while he was an ODST? I’d almost be okay with that.

The other reason they shouldn’t have one is unlike Halo Wars, it’s still just a FPS. And I feel like there’s so much more of Master Chief’s story to tell, that it would be a little frustrating to have 343 work on something other than the main line of games if all it’s going to be is another shooter. If you’re going to give me a shooter, just give me Chief.

I don’t think Locke was ever an ODST. It was only the armor they wore for their trip to the Installation because of the oxygen re breathers it had equipped. Could be wrong though. Also agree with the “2” thing. I honestly just want another game as an ODST and not about Chief. I’d be pleased with anything really

I like the idea! Not titled odst 2 of course as many here have suggested. I think it would be cool to tell the story of halo 4 like they did with halo 3. Its seems like battling the promeatheans as an odst would be a welcome challenge. Keep up the discussion threads! I like ones like this!

i really want another ODST game ;-;

I would love to have another ODST game. ODST has been my favorite game of the series. I would like to see more of a squad of troops then just the lone solider bit they have been running through the whole series.

They could do a semi-open world ODST game like the Tomb Raider Reboot was, where the story is linear but you are free to go from place to place and complete extra objectives.

I personally love your idea I think it’s high time we get another view point hell personally I would be happy if you could be in a squad of marines
