Halo 3 ODST and what to expect

Ok so I just got Halo 3 ODST yesterday.
I’m super pumped! I played the first four levels on normal difficulty and absolutely love the game.
Do you guys have any tips, tricks, or glitches to share? That would be appreciated! I’m gonna do the Legendary Run soon and will need tips

The main thing you have to remember, which some people probably forgot, is that you are not a Spartan, so hanging back is more crucial than ever.

Most enemies can be sidestepped in Mombasa Streets, so engagement isn’t necessary if you can avoid it.

Uplift Reserve can be completed in 4 minutes or less. Just speed your way past the enemies on a Ghost until you finish the mission.

And as you will be mostly facing Brutes throughout the entire game, always try to have a Plasma Pistol and a precision weapon. The Automag works best but grab a Carbine if one is not available.

The thing that tricked me out the most was the larger arc on grenade throws.

Follow your Halo 3 rules, as in always carry a precision weapon and power weapon or plasma. You can carry a TON of grenades, so use those to combat tougher enemies when power weapons aren’t present, like hunters.

Know where the supply caches are - having a mongoose can hasten your trip through the city, having rockets or a sniper can help take down bigger enemies. Extra automag ammo is always a plus too.

Always know where your closest health source is in case you need to fall back to it.

Don’t forget to have the visor on it’s soooo dark.

I typically like to rock the standard ODST combo. Silenced SMG and Automag. Automag is a great precision weapon, excellent for headshots, though its basic damage leaves a lot to be desired, killing a Grunt with it takes about half a magazine if not more when you shoot them in the torso.

As for glitches, later into the game a door sometimes doesn’t open. Without spoiling anything most people know which door that might be.

On normal and I find even on Veteren the Silenced SMG is a good all around weapon. It’s also the first fully automatic weapon in the series that can scope.

The in-game map display the position of enemies but won’t stop the game itself, like any menu on the helmet.

Brutes with a hammer can be defeated with an assassination (even when invincible) and they have an attack animation you can easily avoid to get behind.

It’s the move when they do a small jump forward and swing the hammer sideways, they don’t take long to recover from that move.

The Pistol in the first game is technically an automatic weapon.

Do note I said “fully automatic”

In both cases, the weapon will fire until it’s empty if the trigger is held.

Probably not automatic outside of the game, if ‘fully’ is supposed to hint that point.

No not quite. I wouldn’t consider the M6D a fully automatic weapon, in canon Chief is likely just pulling the trigger fast, not holding it down till the mag runs empty as what Fully Automatic is.

As quoted from Halopedia.

> The weapon is somewhat unusual for a handgun in that it is capable of both semi-automatic and automatic firing.[

Hmm. Never felt fully-automatic.
