Halo 3 multiplayer ban

Right after starting the game I received a notice last night that my account and 360 console have been banned from Halo 3 multiplayer for 2 weeks and a month respectively. I do not believe I have even played Halo 3 in a month? How do I find out why I have been banned?

Usually a 2 week ban means you tried boosting for EXP with extra controllers or with boosters in general

Yeah, It normally happens over boosting

Comedyshermit is this one you can assist? Does it apply for H3? Lol

As far as I’m aware the hammer swings the same as it did in the bnet era. Here is a copy/paste from those days explains why.

Bungie Banhammer Information
If you are checking this page because of an in-game message, it is likely that you have been banned from for violating the terms of use and/or committing a code of conduct violation. It is also possible in the case of an especially egregious violation, that your Xbox 360 system itself is now banned from Matchmaking. The duration of this ban will be based on the type, frequency or nature of the committed violation.
In most cases, Custom Games will still be available. In extreme cases, they will not.
Types of violation include, but are not limited to, the following example actions:
Manipulating network conditions to give yourself an advantage, or to the detriment of the experience for other players.
Modifying your Xbox 360 hardware or Bungie software and services in any way.
Skill, EXP, or Credit Boosting, deleveling, idling through games, cheating, habitual quitting or any other type of unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior.
Impersonating a Bungie employee on Xbox LIVE with intent to defraud or cause harm to other players.

Thanks for sharing that. Boosting EXP was always the most common 2 week ban during the Halo 3 era

Thank you all for the info. I guess I was searching to see if an individualized reason could be identified. I have boosted achievements in the past but months ago. I have had no big jumps in XP, either recently or in the past, and the last I played was with friends in the campaign. So I was worried that the multiplayer ban might be the result of someone trolling me with complaints. I guess I will caulk it up to a delayed reaction for boosting achievements earlier this year and hope that the system does not retro actively punish me again for something else that might be discovered down the road.

Boosting Achievements will do that too. Good to see you found the source of the problem

I think that’s a boosting ban. Keep it clean.

Halo 3 is 9 years old anyway. Just keep it clean from here on out and don’t sweat it about bans and stuff

Boosting was the only way to get the maps I needed. When I played with random players I never saw any DLC maps until I realized that it was because that if just one of the other players in the match does not have the DLC then no DLC maps will be available for play during that match. Boosting was the only way I knew it get a large enough party size so that the DLC maps would be available during a social game match. Is there another way to “keep it clean” and still have a large enough party to play a social match on a DLC map?

Trust me, I know. I still need to boost for the last achievement I need for Halo Reach, just haven’t got around to doing it. It really is the only way to earn DLC achievements in older games
