Isolation sucked fat -Yoink- monkey -Yoink- in H3. You must’ve forgotten the fact that it was called the worst map in history before Reach screwed things up.

Edit: But yeah H3 had the best maps on Xbox 360, but I think I enjoyed 4’s maps over Reachs but trying to build competitive maps in a casual game doesn’t work.

Default Foundry was awful. Isolation was pretty bad. Wasn’t a huge fan of Orbital either.

Anyway, I have to agree that H3’s default maps were of a higher standard in general. I’m not sure whether Reach or 4 has better maps though.

Powerhouse, Zealot, Reflection, Countdown

I was going to say isolatian. I think it was taken out of the rotation as I’ve been playing H3 for the last few weeks and it’s yet to come up in any playlist.

Orbital.

Orbital was awesome lol. Reach was a joke in terms of maps. Halo 4 isnt that much better but it is an improvement nonetheless. Still, I havent seen anything compare to Guardian, Narrows, The Pit, Avalanche (2 flag heavies!), or Construct! Those maps were pure genius!

Well, I would say H4 has the second worse set of launch maps in franchise history.

It is really hard to judge the actual quality of most Halo 4 maps(in default MM) as random personal and world ordinance destroy the flow of both 4v4 and BTB.

Maps I liked in Reach at launch: Powerhouse, Zealot(well updated zealot), Countdown.

Maps I like and would like even more without pods, etc: Abandon, Haven, Solace(sliced versions), Exile, Meltdown, Vortex.

In terms of map quality I would say H2, CE, H3, H4, Reach.

None, I do believe I hate most of the maps on reach/h4.

Show me a map on H4 that was better than Reach or H3 because I have all the dlc map packs…Also you can’t because there isn’t one.

Maps that were actually good, in each game.

Halo 2:
Beaver Creek
Lockout (Only for Objective)
Midship
Sanctuary
Warlock

Halo 3:
Citadel
Construct
Guardian (Only for Objective)
Heretic
Isolation
Narrows
Pit

Halo Reach:
Zealot
Powerhouse

Halo 4:
Haven
Solace
Adrift (Only for Objective)
Abandon
Station 9 (Only for Objective)

And, naturally add all MLG/AGL maps from each game to my lists. Well, except Lockdown from Halo 3. That map wasn’t super.

Halo 3 is my favorite game of all time but honestly I didn’t like Isolation at all. Especially when it was regular team slayer or slayer. Snowbound was meh.

I would play Daybreak, Skyline, Haven, Monolith, Landfall, Peridition and Vortex over Campbase and round&round zealot any day

As I said before in other thread: I would pick up Haven or Adrift or Abandon over Narrows or The Pit or Snowbound any day. Except for Complex and technicaly broken Shatter (split screen!) all maps in Halo 4 are quite playable. Haven or Exile actually became instant classics. I don’t have as many good memories from Sandtrap or Valhalla (I didn’t liked it in Halo 3 and I don’t like it on Halo 4) as I have from Meltdown or Longbow (Dominion!). I liked Guardian and I wish I could play more on Ghost Town, but that’s it in terms of Halo 3.

As for Reach - there were very few good, original maps (I can only name The Cage/Uncaged and Zealot/Arena Zealot). There were some Halo 2’s remakes, but these weren’t very playable with Reach’s gameplay (AA).

To be honest last 2 map packs for Halo 4 gave me more fun than anything in both Halo 3 and Reach.

My all time favourite maps and gametypes are;

Midship, slayer, ctf, odd ball.
Lockout, slayer, one bomb, one flag.
Burial mounds, one bomb, one flag, Snipers.
Headlong, one flag, one bomb, snipers.
Containment, btb ctf.
Beaver Creek, ctf, slayer.
Turf, one bomb.
Sanctuary, ctf, assault.
Relic, one flag, one bomb.
terminal, one flag, one bomb.
Zanzibar, one flag, one bomb, snipers.
Acension, ‘Tower of power’.

I never really played CE that much to have an opinion. With Halo3 there were some solid maps but not a scratch on the ones above. Halo Reach well… little said the better. Halo4 is on par with Reach.

However if I were to pick any Halo3 maps it would be;
Construct
Guardian
The pit
Valhalla
and Standoff - purely for the explosions that happened in btb when everybody rushed for the Spartan laser.

Snowbound

Snowbound, Narrows, and The Pit (yup) are all boring maps. Halo 4 has some really great maps, two maps are instant classics, TWO (Haven, Exile)

4 vs 4 Halo 3 had the best Maps, but the best BTB Maps were in Halo CE and Reach

Half of you are basing your thoughts on nostalgia, while the other half are actually basing the rankings in terms of map quality.

Halo 3 had some of the best maps in franchise history. Reach and Halo 4 ultimately can’t compare to that.

Whether or not you had “more fun” on Exile than Sandtrap is irrelevant. I also can’t believe you’d rather play Abandon than The Pit. That almost makes me cry. Abandon is a terribly made map with unequal sides, and it is unsuitable for anything besides 1 Flag or KOTH.
