I was wondering why the same kids get host every single game. I still play snipers and there isn’t that many people playing, but I have a really good connection FIOS 75 down and 35 up and I feel like I never get host. I literally have gotten host 5 times in almost 4000 games – but the same kids mainly westcoast get host every single game and I want to know if Im host banned or if no one even monitors halo 3 anymore?

Thats what sucks about the host system…
If the only perosn who lives in a country with bad connection players gets the host, it is unplayable for all but the same players.
Still, it can be better then the server system.
I really don’t think so because I play all westcoast players most of the time now and because im in florida they always have the advantage over me because my ping to cali, canada and mexico is over 100 and they are all within 300 miles of each other. I get shot thru walls literally every game atleast 8 times a game and I snipe kids in the head and they just turn around and no scope me across the map.

If people were server-locked this wouldn’t be a problem.
Who wants to play with someone when they know they lag based on their location/quality of their country’s internet service and have an advantage over you?
You could always set a search priority on your location. This will make the chances higher of you ending up with people from you own country and thus reduce lag by alot and you will be host more often. Downside is that with today’s population matchmaking might be really slow to find a game.
I usually do it for Social Slayer and I find games quite quicly (I live in the Netherlands).
So my next question is – how do you find out if you are host banned? I was playing yesterday and there was another kid further south of me in west palm, needless to say he got host over me 4 times in a row… I swear im host banned but how do I find out, more importantly why am I ?
yeah I’ve run into awful luck the last 2 times I’ve tried playing halo 3 with very bad lag and pretty sure one of them the other team was lag switching since they’d conveniently get laggy after we’d take the lead every time. The camera on the pit was following me too so I knew I was host.
I love Halo 3 but when it is so laggy / afk teammates / and quitters / stacked teams it becomes impossible.
I miss the glory days of Halo 3 when population was not a factor.

It definitely sucks. Every time I am playing and run into a laggy player 9/10 times they are either from Mexico or somewhere in Europe, and it is infuriating. Especially when they trash talk.
Does anyone from 343 even read this stuff? I want to know if and why I am host banned?
343 doesn’t give a rat’s -Yoink- about any halo game except Halo 4.

As for foreign players, I am sick and tired of being matched up with mexicans. They are the only foreigners I ever see, and honestly I’m not surprised when the game is laggy as hell when there are more then 2 of them.
I’m not trying to be racist, i’m just sick and tired of how laggy the games are.
I understand that foreign hosts are bad and all the players suffer, but what Im talking about is green bar lag when i play anyone from the westcoast… Im in Fla and its pretty apparent that i’m always behind the game because when i watch the theaters back i get shot backwards and assassinated from the front… .
