Those of you who played Halo 3 may remember the Hayabusa armor. To get this armor, you had to collect every skull in the campaign and it would then be rewarded to you in sections as you go. It took me about 5 hours to get this armor. I want to know how long it took the rest of the community to get it and if you guys think it was worth it.
In my opinion, it was diffidently worth the grind. Just seeing that sword on the back of my Spartan and going into pvp and seeing peoples reaction. It always felt nice wearing it.
The Katana actually wasn’t rewarded with the Hayabusa armor. The Katana was awarded for getting 1000 Gamerscore.

I thought that to get the Katana chest plate you had to get every achievement in the game.

At launch, Halo 3’s achievements totaled 1000 gamerscore. With the release of map packs came new achievements, so as long as your Halo 3 achievements total 1000 gamerscore, you’ll get that chest piece even if you don’t have every achievement.

ohhhhh okay gotcha thx
I have got to be honest; I find the Hayabusa armour overrated. I cannot go into a Halo 3 Big Team match on the MCC without encountering at least six players who have it equipped.
It’s one of the coolest looking armor sets in Halo. The Katana especially looks awesome (at first I thought you could use it since it was on your back, but I quickly learned it was just for show.)

How is it overrated? It’s an armor set that, in order to complete, took a great deal of time and effort. It’s impossible to unlock the full set without completing some of the more difficult achievements, so those of us who use it (at least in the Xbox 360 version) always have at least the katana equipped. When it comes to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, I assume that it’s simply a case of people who unlocked it on the Xbox 360 being used to wearing it.
There was a time where each piece of armor represented a specific challenge that you overcame, but that hasn’t been the case since Halo: Reach (minus a few armor sets in those games.) Perhaps you’ve forgotten, but the armor you wore in Halo 3 made your Spartan/Elite a walking trophy which showed your accomplishments to the world, so people got attached to each armor piece for that reason, and not necessarily for its looks alone.

I have all the achievements in the game so I have Hayabusa and the Katana and I kinda agree that I don’t really like it. My opinion though is it’s just ugly but I don’t think it’s a small accomplishment that you have it. Now, MCC is a different story because everyone has it automatically so it doesn’t mean anything special if you have it. It’s all personal opinion though, Recon is my favorite and I know a lot of people think it isn’t as great now because 343i gave it out to everyone in 2014 (though it does have a little more credit again since there is no way to earn it again). In one aspect I do agree with you that it is “overrated” but just the Hayabusa not Katana. The reason is because OP makes it seem like it is such a hard armor to get, yet all the skulls are easy to get except maybe IWHBYD and thats only because you have to jump through the rings a certain way. It does NOT take 5 hours though like someone said, considering some missions have one skull and it is near the beginning and they can be done on Normal difficulty.
Point is, I think the armor is just ugly, still shows you put a lot of time in, really not hard to obtain though.
