I am so mad beyond words right now. For like the 50th time while playing Halo 3 the game froze and caused not just MCC but my entire Xbox Series X to crash. Best part is that it was a ranked game, my team was 3 kills away from winning. And the cherry on top, I as quickly as I can get back in to be rejoined into the game and it says checking for rejoins for the 5 seconds and then just throws me back into the search, dosen’t even say the match already ended. What I love too about the rejoin feature is intop of it now taking like an extra 5 seconds to match each game because it always has to check for rejoins, often when a game ends and i go back into matchmaking it says I left a match and tells me I need to rejoin it or I will be banned. Of course clicking the rejoin just gives me the message that the game is already over. Like no duh, I just finished that game. I am so mad about MCC right now. Gonna switch back over to Destiny 2. Was hoping to enjoy the double XP over the break but this game just loves ruining my day. Wish I could just switch over to the original Bungie 360 versions that never had these kinds of problems. Rant over.
For your own sanity, try disabling the new skins. Settings → Gameplay → “New Customization”.
My Xbox crashed all the time until I disabled the Halo 3 skins. Then it was fine.
Im honestly hoping this is a weird in between beta build of the rejoin functionality that 343 actually wants to implement. Because I agree, its in a pretty rough spot.
Thank you for the tip about the weapon skins, I guess I’ll have to disable them. Would rather play my game without constant crashing then have the dumb skins.
Since you mentioned Series X, I suggest not using the quick resume feature as this will cause MCC to crash your Xbox. Frequently too. However if you already close the game completely each time you are done playing, then definitely try the other tip. It will help.
I don’t use the quick resume feature as with online games like Destiny 2 it dosen’t work anyways. But I appreciate the tip.
Just wanted to add that turning the skins off for H3 definitely helped a lot for me. Kinda sad you have to turn off a feature in the game for it to work right but it’s better than frequent crashes. I doubt we will ever see MCC with out any bugs.
I fixed the problem by reinstalling windows(clean install)
I’m just going to say this whole “crash and console shut-down thing” isn’t just in Halo 3, and is also not just in matchmaking. I’ve had it happen in other Halos, and I’ve had it happen in Custom Games where I’m by myself, and I’m pretty sure it’s happened in Campaign. Honestly, these crash-to-dashboards just happen whenever they want, and wherever they want. Also I’m inclined to believe that the whole “skins cause crashes” thing is complete nonsense.
I am having the same problem I am getting kicked out of games then it is frozen on the loading screen to go to menu, so I got to quit the mcc build start the game up and then rejoin then it happens again two times in a row sometimes 3 it is annoying. I can’t even play without getting kicked out I have my relays on where it will hide. my Ip and I still get kicked out and I don’t think it works. and i get banned it makes me not want to play this game but i love halo 3 can it please get better
