Halo 3 doesn´t recognize my Xbox Live Gold account

I currently have a 14 day Xbox Live Gold membership and I play Halo 3 online on my Xbox 360. I can play on social playlists (Social Slayer, Team Mythic etc.) but not on any ranked playlist (Lone Wolves, Team Slayer etc.). I get the message “This playlist ist restricted to Xbox Live Gold members only”, when trying to do so, although I have a Gold membership. I already contacted the Microsoft support for this issue. They confirmed that I have an active Gold membership till the 24th of January and told me to contact you guys, since they couldn´t solve the problem (We´ve tried to reboot my console and to delete and re-ad my profile as well as deleting the system cache - didn´t fix it).
Apparently, the problem is, according to Microsoft, that “the game developer doesn´t recognize my Xbox Live Gold membership properly” and so the problem is in the game. They also gave me a reference code to the problem: SRX1493004457ID (if it helps).

Now I´ve opened a ticket here, where they also told me that the problem is that the game does not recognize my account properly.
As a solution they told me that it could have something to do with an “Infinite Sign-Out-Loop” on Steam and a description on how to solve that on Windows by deleting the system cache on the Windows Explorer etc.
Problem is: I have never used Steam and I play on my Xbox 360, not on PC, so that suggestion unfortunately does not apply to the problem.

It seems other people on Xbox Live have the same problem I do, while others don´t. What is the solution to this problem? Help!

Oof. An infinite sign-out-loop on Steam? Do you even have a Steam account, or did you ever make one?

Hello, thank you for answering.
No I don´t have a Steam Account and I have never had a Steam account. I only play Halo 3 on my Xbox 360.
I don´t think my problem has anything to do with this “Infinite-Sign-out-Loop”, must be something else.

Yeah, something doesn’t seem right. Did you tell them you don’t have a steam account and it’s for Xbox, not PC?

Yes, I did tell them that I play on the Xbox 360, not on PC. Unfortunately I didn´t get a response on that.

Did you try any other avenues or end up having any luck?

Not yet unfortunately, the Xbox Gamer community also couldn’t help me with their troubleshooting tips. I just want to get some achievements and therefore I need to play ranked games. If there’s somebody who can play ranked could maybe try Inviting me to a session and thereby maybe dodging this bug.

I solved it! Reason was that I got a “14 day Gold membership” from a private seller on ebay, which allowed me to play online at every game except for Halo 3 where I only could play Social playlists. The Xbox support confirmed the membership i acquired was a legit Gold membership but on my profile it was displayed with a silver collar, indicating I only have Silver membership, very weird…
Now I purchased a monthly gold membership directly from microsoft and now everything works and my profile also has the Gold membership collar on it. I still really don´t know what it is with these private sellers on Amazon and on Ebay, but apparently the memerships they sell do not have all the features allthough they are called “Gold memberships”.

Good work!

Make sure to give that private seller poor feedback, or at least a review saying it’s misleading with your issues.

Hey so I had this same problem and I don’t think the seller messed up at all. For some reason the free passes don’t let you play Halo 3. I had the same problem I don’t know why.

I have this issue and I have a Gold Subscription until 2021. I have to click on upgrade when it prompts then I go to a black screen for a couples secs then I am authenticated I guess because it allows me to play. Not sure what is going on…
