Halo 3 Cortana moments and the "new" Cortana plan

Some of the Halo fans (or maybe the majority) thinks that Cortana we saw in Halo 5 is not the real Cortana but the fragment of her, which is the evil one and probably “infected” by the Gravemind. Now, she said to Chief the following line: “And once there is peace, we can focus on poverty, hunger, illness.”
Is it possible that her message from Halo 3 which is “There will be no more sadness, no more anger, no more envy!” connected to the previous words?

That would make sense to me. It is confirmed this isn’t a fragment, but I still think GM could’ve infected her with logic plague.

Spoilers ahead-

She went to Halo, chances are she’ll release the Flood. Wasn’t the tune she was humming at the end of H5G Olly Olly Oxen Free? That’s a sign of peace, if it was then she could’ve been telling the UNSC to cease fire until the Flood was eradicated, or perhaps luring them into the trap.

Now we play the waiting game.

The thing about the Cortana moments is, from what I gather, they were less Cortana saying those things and more along the lines of the Gravemind using her as a mouthpiece to psychologically attack the Chief. The logic plague is possible, but that is going to need some building up in subsequent games and since the Flood hasn’t been a major factor in the Reclaimer Saga I’m not so sure Cortana is suffering from the logic plague. Why people think she is going to release the Flood confound me. Just because she possess a Halo doesn’t mean she’ll try to unleash the Flood on the ring. Given she threatened troublemakers with being reformed in the image of the Created I wouldn’t be shocked if she tried to find another Composer to combine with the Halo to repeat the Ur-Didact’s plan of composing beings with the Halo.

Well, in Halo 3 she seemed to repeat a lot of what Dr. Halsey has said. Then in Halo 5, she seemed to repeat a bit of what the Didact said…

Cortana rejected the Logic Plague in Human Weakness, she didn’t give in or go rampant so Logic Plague is unlikely, especially since they definitely haven’t been building up to it if it is the case.

Further more those two lines your trying to compare are completely different things. One is about objective goals she wants to focus on after subjugating everyone. The other are emotions that won’t exist once everyone joins the hive/gravemind so I wouldn’t connect them at all.

Really? The next game had her losing herself with rampancy.

Who’s to say there weren’t some seeds left over from their talk that took root.

I get it, but if there is peace without poverty, hunger, illness etc. and everyone become equal than there won’t be sadness, anger and envy. (that’s how they connected) At least that’s my point of view, but of course I could be wrong.

Whatever happens with Cortana, please… no more Flood. I’m sooo tired of the all-first-person-shoots-must-have-shotguns-and-zombies trope.

Given that the Domain is a precursor artifact, she may have fallen victim to the logic plague in her rampent state.
Its not to say that she wound release the Flood, but the only real reason for her to quote the Didact is if she had the LP. The Didact spent time with the Gravemind and got the LP, Cortana did the same and then went swimming in the Domain.

Could it be that when Cortana allowed her rampant bits out to help stop Didact, she released and lost the bits of her personality that allow her to sympathize with humanity, and fight on its behalf. This new Cortana is not whole, she lacks her drive to ensure the UNSC’s survival. The ideas from GM that she first resented, due to her will to help humanity, may now seem to her the answer. The flood have no hunger, illness, or poverty because they are all basically one mind. The way to achieve the peace that Cortana wants is to, in fact, allow the flood to consume all. A galaxy of flood would fulfill Cortana’s vision of a universe without war or disagreement. She does not want to activate Halo, but instead release the flood samples stored on the ring.

My other theory is that she does want to activate Halo after deeming humanity and covenant incapable of acting in accordance to her new vision. In this idea, Cortana needs to turn on the rings to wipe the galaxy clean and start over. She may wish to compose all life, so that she can reclaim the species of the galaxy after her cleansing. She’ll release the flood to divert UNSC and SoS forces. After a fighting the flood for most of the game, they will temporarily team up to stop a greater foe. The only problem with this theory is that Cortana would need a human analogue to turn on the ring. Question is: who?

But the flood shoot back and can use vehicles! They’re most dangerous, and therefore the most fun zombie style enemy to fight. Especially on legendary! ohhh you love to hate to love it!
