Halo 3 Cortana Advice Needed

I’ve been playing through Halo 3 solo on Legendary, but I’m stuck on the mission Cortana. The level layout, where enemies are placed, everything seems to be set up in such a way as to make beating the mission alone next to impossible. And while I have been playing through the Halo games coop with a friend, I’ve also been doing them solo for the sake of bragging rights and achievements.

What can I do to make things easier on myself?

The flood on Halo 3 are like paper, any explosive, fire or melee will break their bodies so they can’t be reanimated. The best advice I can give is to stay back with a close quarters weapon and wait for them to come for you. When you come across a situation where they don’t you will need a weapon like the Br or Carbine to pick at them from a distance. I done this to complete it, it took about an hour but I completed it that’s what matters.

Have a look at some of the walkthroughs on YouTube as well - I The Tyrant I has some really great guides on how to get through some of these areas.

Quick help, from memory - There’s a camo somewhere on that level, if you grab it thou should have just enough time to sneak up through the level with a few jumps and bypass most enemies

Do be afraid to use anything and everything at your disposal. From my personal experience, the Needler and Energy Sword are two of the BEST weapons to have in that level. Just take your time, don’t rush, and you’ll push through.

The energy sword will kill the “hunter” flood in one stab. What helped me most was deployable cover with the spiker. The spikes from the spiker will go through so you can shoot enemies without them hitting you. My biggest problem was the hunter wyrms when they turned into the ranged shooter (don’t remember name) so it is handy to have a BR or Carbine for that purpose. The spiker or Brute shot is more effective when you melee the flood.
Best of Luck!

I beat the game on heroic. Basically, all I have to say is, USE ALL THE COVER YOU CAN, that means using even the smallest parts for shield regeneration, and use all of your equipment when necessary. And at the end, just rush it. Watch a few youtube videos, watch the routes they take, and such.

(Using the active camouflage at where you start to blow up the reactors, after you get to cortana.)

My advice would be to go watch a speed run of the level and try your best to imitate it.

That works too, but usually you could just rush it without needing a video or anything.

You could but I’m talking about taking their same exact paths, instead of just trying to rush and wing it

Have you had any luck or taken anyone’s advice since posting this?

Indeed I have. I’m not sure how to accurately explain where I am, but I’m nearing the part where you save Cortana.

Great! I’m glad to hear some of the tips suggested have helped out! When you get towards the end there, Energy Swords become a bit easier to find. Be sure to keep one with you at all times!

I’m using an Energy Sword/Gravity Hammer combo now, so no worries there. I’ve also made sure to make use of the Active Camo power-up to deal with some of the particularly unfair Flood Range Form areas.

This is the last mission I need, so as soon as I beat it I finally complete the EOD armor!

Best of luck! Take your time and keep your cool! I have no doubt you’ll pass the mission with flying colors!

This mission was really such a pain on legendary. It’s the shooting flood that would just melt me.

Have Cortana; on my way out of High Charity.

YOU KIN DO IT! Once you have Cortana, its basically a cake walk because everything is running away. You’ll hit a few snags but should be fine as long as you have an energy sword
