So after Bungie left they made the Vidmaster Challenges pointless and I found them extremely fun to do. Is there anyway of making the Recon earnable again?
Nope. I think it was given out by 343 and made completely pointless but if you played Halo 3 after 343 gave it away, you would have to unlock it via vidmasters.
It’s been an extremely long time since I got Recon so i’m not sure if it is possible to get it with the vidmasters anymore. Someone can correct me if they like.
343 gave it out in waves with the last one being 2014. They no longer have the tech required to unlock it for anyone, so if you don’t have it then it’s not possible to get it anymore. That includes earning it via vidmasters

They really don’t, but they can’t keep supporting every game forever. At some point they need to shift their focus from supporting legacy game and put their resources into current and future ventures

How hard is it to just leave old games alone and not mess them up?

I still remember that day… where I got Recon from the waves. I equipped it, but the next day… it was gone… simply gone. I got so frustrated, and it still saddens me when I think about it today

Well… but you use your new account right? I simply got it in this same account, but disappeared without any particular reason.

Getting Recon via the Vidmaster Achievements was tied to bungie.net, which stopped tracking Halo stuff the same time as they stopped giving out Recon.
I’m pretty sure it was tied to something on Bungie’s end.

I agree it would be nice if those things were always available. But, I gotta agree that it’s not simple maintaining everything on 343’s end. Think about it, wouldn’t it be easier to leave a game and its servers and services untouched? There are many things they mess up, but I totally understand having to get rid of some stuff. It’s still cool how we’re still able to play every game from the 7th generation until now and that too on the same platform!
