Halo 3 Betrayal Glitch

I was just playing a match of 8v8 Precision Slayer in Halo 3 on Standoff and my teammates were somehow making the game think I betrayed them. This happened 4 times before I was booted. I didn’t shoot them or anything. In fact, I placed my controller down and stopped playing for part of the match because they were just constantly betraying me. And yet, when they killed themselves across the map from me, it said I betrayed them.

I have a video of the final two “betrayals” I apparently committed, which I’ll link here once it’s uploaded. It shows that the 3rd one happens while I’m standing still and the person isn’t even in my line of sight. And the 4th happens right as I kill an enemy who spawns in front of me.

That glitch has been around forever. That map is the easiest one to do the trick, it only requires a mongoose. There’s similar glitches on avalanche and longshore. Avalanche uses a hornet and longshore uses a gravity lift so it can be a little harder to do.

I wont explain exactly how to do it. But it requires them to first bump into you, so that it counts as a betrayal for you. The spartans have to make contact. If I were you I’d avoid that and run. Suicide if you have to, to avoid contact. Or climb on top of the antennas on the bases and hope they can’t get up there easily. Tough position to be in to try and stay in the game and get the win. But at least it adds some excitement in an otherwise boring 8v2.

By bump into me do you mean simply have our spartans touch or does it have to cause damage to them? I could understand if I had caused damage and then they suicided to make the game think I did the fatal damage. But I didn’t even damage any of them.

The spartans just have to touch, no damage dealt. If they made no contact with anyone and didn’t receive damage from anyone the kill feed would say killed by the guardians. They are killing themselves in a very specific way. Killed by the guardians only happens when the game has no idea how you died, so it looks for anything to award the kill to someone.
