Halo 3 Backwards Compatibility Corruptions

When playing Halo 3 on my Xbox One S, backgrounds to the various lobbies will frequently become corrupted (even when reinstalling the game.)

Will this ever be addressed?

You will likely be told to repost here. I haven’t seen much work for Halo BC from the BC team since the initial boom (obviously, a great effort there) a year or 15 months ago, so they might take some time to fix things.

Can I ask why you’re trying to play Halo 3 on Xbox One instead of playing the Master Chief Collection - Halo 3?

You can, but the answer is simply “because I can.”

That’s fair. With that being said, I don’t think it’ll be addressed. 343 Industries currently has their hands full with continuing work on The Master Chief Collection, Halo Infinite, and their most recent announcement of Halo Outpost Discovery. No doubt it is absolutely ALL HANDS ON DECK for 343 employees. I don’t think that Xbox 360 games having loading issues on Xbox One consoles is even a blimp on the radar right now.

To be honest, it sounds more like a Microsoft issue. Late last year, people were complaining about Halo 3 EXP not counting, armor unlocks disappearing, and achievements not popping when they’re supposed to. All these issues were with the Xbox 360 servers which are controlled by Microsoft and affected just about every other Xbox 360 game that still has fans playing. It wouldn’t surprise me if the loading issues you’re experiencing is also a problem that Microsoft would need to address.

Hey OP. Halo 3 on the X1 is handled by the Backwards Compatibility team over at Xbox. It’s a good idea to log the issue in the thread tuhin noted above, potentially also a good idea to try the Xbox forums and see if there is a place to log it for their attention over there.

343 Industries have no part in the backwards compatibility program for Xbox One and One X. That’s all handled by a separate internal team at Microsoft.

Issues with backwards compatibility are down to a few things:

  1. Bug in the emulator. If this is the case, try reproducing the steps and see if any other Xbox One S owners can get the same results. Best way to confirm if its an emulator issue, in which case, maybe the BC team can get to it like they did with Reach.

  2. Bad install of the game. Since the BC program doesn’t actually run the Xbox 360 game and instead downloads a modified version that works with the BC emulator, it is entirely possible that perhaps due to network issues the game may be corrupt. Reinstalling the game could fix the issue.

  3. Possibly hardware issues. Though very unlikely, it could be a hardware issue. Try installing the game to an external/internal hard drive. Check to see if other Xbox One games are working fine etc.

EDIT - Somehow missed Stckrboy’s response. Sorry.
