Halo 3 Anniversary: My hopes

Hey,

I thoroughly enjoyed Halo 2 Anniversary. I thought the updated graphics, other than being newer and better than Halo CE Anniversary were really awesome. True to the original vision but beautifully updated. Well done 343i!!! My only qualm with it was wondering if if the graphic engines (old/new) were made to run separately, could we have gotten 1080p out of it?

On that note to start what I hope we see with Halo 3 anniversary:

  1. Consider ditching the graphic switch option and aim for 1080p.
  2. Please don’t make everything look shiny and glowy like it does in Halo 4 and 5. There are times when that look works okay, but a lot of the time I find it distracting and just not a great choice. Reminds me of the look change from Tim Burton Batman - Joel Schumaker Batman movies. Really lost the grounded grittiness the original Halo’s had. So I hope that stays intact.
  3. Make it MCC paid dlc. The Halo online community is fractured enough, rather than introducing yet another game bring people back to MCC with continued fix’s/improvements and remastered halo 3 multiplayer maps. The Halo 2 new maps are awesome. Then people can get on halo 6 in 2018. Many people would be able to pick up MCC cheap then pay for the DLC.

Halo 3 is easily my favorite Campaign (except THAT Cortana level, the end cinematic almost makes it worth playing)

  1. Bring back Blur studios. The Halo 2 Anniversary cut scenes were the best I’ve scene, better than 5.

Sweeteners needed to make up for the short/bad Halo 5 Campaign and loss of splitscreen.

  1. Tie the original trilogy together by throwing in Blur cutscenes of Halo CE (but don’t tell anyone till it’s out).
  2. Obviously keep local splitscreen coop and multiplayer
  3. If you brought in 4 player splitscreen co op to the Campaign people would go nuts and you’d stand out against every other developer. Please try.

I work at a video production house and our Friday arvo ritual is Halo local 4 player splitscreen. Spewing we can’t play campaigns together. The team was shattered when Halo 5 lost split screen.

Anyway that’s just my thoughts, requests. Really hope this get’s made. It would go a long way (IMO) in easing the sting of the MCC launch issues.
(They weren’t a huge issue for me as I’m more into Campaign / local multiplayer and that all worked a treat!)

A Halo 3 Anniversary is a high rumor right now & it does make sense to release it next year because Halo Wars 2 releases this year in 2016 & 2017 does mark Halo 3’s ten year anniversary. I would like to see it happen because Halo 3 is one of those great Xbox 360 classics, & I really do hope they boost the cinematic graphics to look similar to H2A, with local split-screen back which Halo 5 Guardians sacrificed for its 60fps in which I felt like it was missing from H5G. Also they should bring the Halo 3 maps like Guardian, Pit, Narrows, Foundry,& Midship(forgot what it was called in Halo 3) back to the Halo 3 Anniversary, but they may not say anything about it until 2017 when it gets closer to its Ten year anniversary mark. But I have no arguments of not having a Halo 3 Anniversary for Xbox One next year because it makes a lot of sense to do so(unless they make it like Halo 5 than of course I’ll have an argument, otherwise if they keep it like Halo 3 was back in 2007), just with upgraded graphics & audio, than I’m pretty good with having it have a Halo 3 Anniversary.

I agree. Keep gameplay 100% the same like 2 anniversary. Man that was a well done campaign update. 3 was the third act of the original trilogy, simpler story than 2 but its the finale. Was an awesome campaign. I will be so stoked if/when they remaster it and hope they make it part of mcc. I reckon it’d boost the online population heaps if they remaster a heap of maps. But personally I cant wait to play through a remastered campaign

Here are the things I would do for a Halo 3 Anniversary in 2017:

  1. Have the campaign run with 2 engines with the ability to switch between 2 graphics and keep local split-screen co-op, both from Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST.
  2. Have all 24 Halo 3 multiplayer maps remastered with 4 player splitscreen. Only remastered maps will be featured in the standalone Halo 3 Anniversary game, because Halo MCC already has the classic maps.
  3. Have Halo 3’s forge revamped with forge 3.0 features from Halo 5.
  4. Add in the firefight mode from Halo 3: ODST and have all the firefight maps remastered.
  5. Revamp the theater mode.
  6. In ranked matchmaking, use the same rank system as the original Halo 3.
  7. Include an invitation to play the Halo 6 Beta in early 2018.
  8. Include a free downloadable copy of backwards compatible Halo 3 Xbox 360 in every copy of Halo 3 Anniversary for the Xbox One.

Since Halo 3 Anniversary will be a bigger project than the Halo 2 Anniversary portion of the MCC, make Halo 3 Anniversary a standalone game and not DLC for the MCC.

Here’s my idea for the game:

  1. Let’s just remaster the Original Xbox Games, k?

  2. If not, only 5 more years before Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary-Anniversary!!!

So Halo 3 in the MCC, Halo 3 Anniversary, and Halo 3 backwards compatible? Three different Halo 3 multiplayers on the same system? Way to keep the population in one place.

Plx

Having it be a part of the MCC would make the most sense in terms of not splitting the population 3 ways by having an MCC version, a backward compatible version, and the Anniversary version. Just make it $40 DLC. That’s how much the game will be going for by then anyway.

Don’t you guys think Halo 3 looks good enough already? Seriously, it’s a great looking game even by today’s standards. It’s cool that we had CEA and H2A to celebrate Halo’s past, but doing Halo 3 would just simply be overdoing it, especially when it would be the third time that the game has been re-released, and the second time on the Xbox One in just three years. We don’t need a Halo 3 Anniversary. There’s a fine line between paying tribute, and just plain cash grabbing.

It would only make sense if H3A was in MCC otherwise the population will be too split as MrMartini says.

HOWEVER, the MCC has such a bad reputation I don’t think that 343 want any more association with it - If they were planning to add H3A as DLC they would be doing more to fix the rest of the bugs in MCC.

So in short I don’t think there will be a H3A. Which is sad because I would like to play a repopulated H3 game with the original playlists.

I really enjoyed playing all the halo campaigns in a row in mcc. And although halo 3 is my favourite of the five in mcc, after the h1a and halo 2a improved faces and particularly blurs wonderful cinematics the halo 3 cut scenes just were not as strong by comparison and the faces are quite bad in comparison too. I agree though, i love the art direction of halo 3, the grittiness, the earthy textures and colour palette. It feels much more ‘real’ than the newer halos despite the graphics not being technically as good.

That’s why I said itd be awesome if they got blur to do cut scenes for h1a too, the whole trilogy would be an incredible experience to play through

First, didn’t Blur also make the Halo 5 cutscenes?

Second, I really want H3A, but I also hope it’s the last Anniversary title… at least till the series is old enough to the point where Xbox One games are considered classics.

Please dont

H3 already had good graphics if they ever do a H3 anniversary i would rather they wait till they can really improve the graphics… I want game play graphics as good as the H2A cut scenes.

If they are making H3A.

Please.
DO NOT, and I mean DO NOT make it part of TMCC.

Adding a Halo game to something that’s already clearly glitchy could be catastrophic. I’d rather for 343 to make it separate than for them to make it part of TMCC. Adding H3A could make TMCC even more glitchy (that’s if they did not add EVEN MORE patches to this game) and even ruin the H3A experience, so it’s probably better to make it separate.

I totally agree. MCC is just too buggy. It probably won’t ever run 100% properly. Adding H3A to a game this buggy runs a very large risk of ruining the H3A multiplayer experice (which has limitless potential) as it did, to an extent, the H2A multiplayer experience.

Please don’t make H3A. 343, I have zero confidence in your ability not to turn one of my all time favorite games into another MCC -Yoink- nightmare. If you are going to do anything, make h3 BC and fix the MCC.

In Luke the Notable’s Steaktackular they speak about this and I agree with what they say. Do it similar to Halo CE remastered. Realise the campaign remastered but include more maps for Halo 5 instead of Halo 3 multiplayer again since with Halo 5, MCC and 3 remaster the community would be so split all 3 would suffer.

i rather have them just really fix up the mcc halo 3 the hit detection is still wack and does not feel right on the xbox one. But i would welcome an anniversary it is defiantly worthy of at least that after how big it was on xbox 360. But i am hesitant of backwards compatibility cause if we look at the fps drops and technical issues with that it is not worth it especially in a halo that uses projectile based shooting not hit scan like the other halos. Of course backwards compatible would be cool if they put some efforts into their ports and actually have them keep a steady fps.

I would say since we already have h3 on the mcc why not make kinda a h3.5? Something that’s H3 at its core with no sprint Spartan abilities or aim down sight but with added features and inspiration from H5.
So my points are:
•updated graphics
•1080p 60fps
•split screen
•playable Elites
•weapon balancing similar to h5
•faster base movement speed at least 110%
•full armor customization (reach style)
•firefight
•H5 style forge mode
•Warzone extreme 20v20 gamemode (maybe without AI)
•armor is unlocked by commendation and progress.
•if there’s a req system it should only be for its version of warzone but for power weapons and vehicles perhaps skins? Gained by rp or money so we get free stuff and support down the line.
•all gamemodes and most maps day one
•file browser
•customs lobby
then throw in the campaign and it’ll be worth buying. If not there’s no point cause we have it in the mcc and there’s no point of having just a reskin with better graphics. Of course it’ll have to be a stand alone game cause let’s face it the mcc is loaded with bugs and they kinda owe it to us. This way og players and anti sprint guys could stop complaining cause they’ll have a full perfect game they could enjoy for years while 343 collect data and see what’s the best approach for h6.
