All the way up to Halo 5, every main series game on the franchise supported local splitscreen multiplayer. Of course, the long-awaited Halo 3: Anniversary is set to release sometime next year. Although there are several things that fans want Halo 3A to keep, I can’t live without splitscreen. Part of the local multiplayer was what made Halo 3 so great, so 343 would be fools to leave it out. I’m a bit worried about it since they decided to not include it in Halo 5, but I sure hope that they will finally listen to the fanbase.
There is no confirmation that a Halo 3 Anniversary is coming at the moment. It is highly ambiguous whether it will be made or not. I see a lot more reasons against a Halo 3A personally, but who knows for sure. Seems way to early to discuss features in game that might not come.

It’s coming. Halo CE Annoverary came out a decade after its initial launch, Halo 2 Anniversary came out a decade after launch, so why wouldn’t Halo 3 so the same?
Agree 100%. Things that it also needs
-split screen as you mentioned
-remastery of the campaign (it already looks solid but they can make it look spectacular)
-at least 10 multiplayer maps remastered
-social and ranked playlists
-all game types (slayer, ctf, assault, territories , oddball, koth, infection, race, grifball, etc)
-multi team
-awesome forge mode
-working and fast servers (polar opposite of MCC at launch)
-minimal to no bugs in any aspect
Things that could be implemented
-firefight mode within the campaign
-multiplayer scarab assault mode (this would be incredible)
If all of these are in H3A then it will be spectacular!

Because Halo 3 was an Xbox 360 title, and is currently included in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Plus, it’s still online on Xbox 360.

True but virtually no one plays halo 3 on the 360 (which is very unfortunate) and MCCs servers are still poor which leaves halo 3 with a small population. H3A could reignite the entire halo community to its former glory if it is made right and includes all necessary components

Halo 3 on the 360 is buggy as heck because it’s not supported anymore. All the playlists are DLC locked, so you can only really play social slayer. The game is less than 720p and 30fps, and while the art fantastic, graphically it’s way outdated. Most people already played the heck out of it and unlocked everything, so there’s not even much incentive to play it.
Halo 3 on the MCC is buggy, spawns aren’t good, and is very limited considering you can’t really play it in Matchmaking that often. Also, MCC is buggy to the point where the population isn’t that big.
If Halo 3A is properly made (The full original game with all content remastered, sufficient amount of playlists with ranked and social, splitscreen, fully functional with no bugs, etc.), then it would be awesome.
Of course it does. It won’t be a true remake if their isn’t split screen
