Frank 'O Connor has recently come out on NeoGaf and said that Halo 3 Anniversary is not happening. So stop asking for it. We don’t need it.

I’m actually glad about this. Putting aside my personal feelings for the game (least favorite of the series I’m afraid, never fully enjoyed it), I’m happy to hear they want to put forward with the Halo universe. I don’t want to see 343 locked into just spitting out remakes of Bungie games for years to come, there’s so much more to Halo than that. Don’t get me wrong, I’d totally still pick up a copy if they were making it (as a collector I couldn’t not have a copy).
I knew it wasn’t gonna happen. There’s just too much pressure on 343 to 1.) Fix everything in Halo 5 and MCC that’s been broken since day one, and 2.) Make sure everything in Halo Wars 2 is there and works correctly on day one. There’s just way too much going on for that to happen.
Plus if it were to happen I wouldn’t buy it. I don’t really like Halo 3 that much.

Bit surprising. Halo 3 was easily my favourite of the series.

> Why not both? H3A 2017 announced at E3 '17, and Halo 6 2018? It’d literally be the last anniversary to come out because it’s the last one in the original trilogy anyway. To me it’s a missed opportunity.
Because I don’t really see the point of it, to be honest. Halo 3 is still playable online on not one, but two consoles. It’s just pointless fan service that I dislike the idea of, and it’s just waste of everyone’s time. After all, we’d just get a game we’ve already played, they’d have to dedicate time and resources for a game everyone’s already played. Might as well use that time and those resources to make an ODST 2 or some other spin-off that doesn’t require a full 3 year development cycle.
I think CEA was a nice celebration of ten years of Halo, Halo 2A was a mistake (mostly because it made people expect a similar treatment for Halo 3), and a Halo 3A would just be terrible waste of everyone’s time. Not to mention it would inevitably set up the expectations for a Halo Reach Anniversary, and you just get into this terrible spiral of perpetual remakes. Heck, I think porting Reach (note “port”, not full blown remake) would be more sensible use of time, because at least then we’d have the whole series playable on modern hardware without having to worry about XBL on Xbox 360 shutting down. But Halo 3 is already playable on the Xbox One. All an anniversary would bring to the table is a graphical upgrade. We really don’t need one.

Mmmm I really disliked Halo 3. I started playing MCC again recently (it performs flawlessly for me btw) and each game is just like playing it back in the day, and H3 is still my least favorite. The action is just so slow and there’s only one gun that matters. Not cool.
That said, I wish we could at least have the cutscenes remasteted. The graphics of Halo 3 were a let down even at launch.

Haha. Don’t let it. Play your favorite game whatever it is! I still think that the Return of the King game is one of the best games to date. And it’s just a movie accompanying dungeon slasher.
Good news for my wallet. As a collector, this saves me from buying a game I already own twice.
They are WAY better off using their resources for a new game.
the thing is, even if we DID get it, the 343 “haters” would still find something to complain about, so I’m quite glad its not happening, also, I’m glad to see that people are not too let down by this news
I’m actually genuinely surprised at this. Not upset, I’ve said a few anti-Halo 3 Anniversary things over the year. But I was really expecting a 4K remake to happen because of the Scorpio.
I don’t understand how Frankie can be taken seriously with this supposed “confirmation” of the lack of H3A plans. Fair enough that no one remembers this post on NeoGAF, but he is honestly lying at this point. Not only did he not come out with the project of H2A, but he didn’t mention the development of MCC overall. If this was truly the case, why would he not just leave the question be and move on with frankly more important posts that are worth responding to?

Who knows, it might be crappy psychological tactic or something.

And continuously fail on creating these “new” experiences? No thanks, especially when they can’t even do any fan service in regards to giving us an actual classic playlist in halo 5 or even featuring community classic playlists, despite them existing such as the evolved settings. There are many issues in regards to game balance, overall server functioning (ghost melees and continuous server disconnects), horrific playlist management (like the refusal for developer made maps in BTB/grifball) and horrible care for the competitive settings that have brought this game down to not even being within the top 10 games played in their own console.
And to not even remaster halo 3, the most successful game of this franchise (coming from a developer who even lied before with the lack of H2A developed by certain affinity) is ludicrous. Obviously, I understand why remastering H3 can be bad in the likes of 343, but trying to stick with halo 5 for the next 2 years is surely going to kill the population by then due to its lack of sustainability.
