Halo 3: Anniversary Edition!

With updated graphics and sound, and customizable controls!

I always hear people dissing Reach, claiming that 3 is the best. Unfortunately I am heavily biased towards controls and therefore had great difficulty completing the H3 campaign and didn’t bother with the multiplayer. I tried one match and got like 20 kills and a killing frenzy, but the controls were driving me crazy! I seriously couldn’t bear it.

If 343 made CE: AE, why not one for Halo 3? If it’s SO much better, I’d like to see it.

What do you think? Simply select your choice in the poll above.

Oh and I mean ONLY graphics, sound, and controls. I don’t want the H4 gimmicks. I feel that an anniversary edition or something would satisfy the community and allow me to truly experience H3 better. Everyone else seems to think it’s better, so I must be missing something. Heh, then again the opinion is opposite on the Reach forum I bet XD

As a newbie, I found Reach’s control scheme was the most sensible and easy to learn, and being a prequel with the best graphics at the time, it was the most accessible.

You say you did not Like Halo 3 but you are asking for a anniversary edition ?

I’d rather they not waste time on more remakes and prefer they use their resources furthering the franchise with spin-offs and the like.

If they were to remake halo 3, all I would want is higher resolution textures (and the rendering engine to keep it closer to 60fps), better netcode and all of halo 2’s maps. Preferably released on the next gen console.

If they changed the controls without at least giving an option for the old controls, I would be upset.

> You say you did not Like Halo 3 but you are asking for a anniversary edition ?

Oh no I liked it. I just couldn’t bear the control scheme and didn’t get to enjoy the multiplayer everyone talks about. I want to know if it’s truely better than Reach, or if my unrefined opinion is better because I’ve played Reach before Halo 3. Graphics aside, I have difficulty determining which campaign I prefered more. I loved the Reach campaign to death, but MC saving the planet is pretty hard to compete with.

Huh, I never said anything about disliking Halo 3. You should read more carefully…

As much as I would love a polished up H3 with an Assault Rifle that does NOT sound like a popcorn maker…it’s just too soon for a remake really, it only came out in '07.

Why would I want an anniversary edition of a game I can still pop in and play on Xbox LIVE? No, we need HALO 2: Anniversary first. Halo 3 is still modern enough, it doesn’t need it.

'14 would be the 7 year anniversary… just saying…

Why not both? Though I agree that Halo 2 would definitely be the more deserving.

I’m not asking for a remake like right NOW lol, I just wanted to know the communities opinion. Could it be patched to have the newer control schemes? I hate using the bumpers to reload and B to melee, it all just feels weird.

Ah yeah, I don’t have an original 'box and never got to play Halo 1 or 2. I was considering buying CE: Anni but I’ve seen more than a few bad reviews about it so I haven’t decided yet. Besides, it wasn’t made by Bungie, and now we’ve all seen what 343 can do…

Halo 3 just had clunky controls, and physics in some regards, Halo 2 probably has the superior movement, physics, in general, and better Multiplayer overall in my opinion, it flows much better and the gravity is not so floaty feeling.

Halo 2 is really the peak of the Halo franchise as far as what everyone enjoys and expects.

In Halo 2 you could feel each step taken, the immersion is similar to Halo 4 in general. Halo 4 has the most potential overall, that potential just needs to be tapped and Strafe, side to side, speed needs to be increased similar to how Strafe speed is in Halo 2.

> Strafe, side to side, speed needs to be increased similar to how Strafe speed is in Halo 2.

Would that have anything to do with the slowdown when shot at in H4? I think it really ruins some parts of the game and makes standard sword charging and most forms of escape nearly impossible. I feel pressed to stay near cover in H4, I rarely go out on the field anymore.

Why is this in the Halo 4 forums?

I thought the focus on “7” was a Bungie thing?

> Why is this in the Halo 4 forums?

Uh, well, considering most of the community is here… And everyone here seems to prefer the older Halo’s so I guess this is a shout out to them. So yeah makes sense to me.

Where do you think 343 came from? 7 is basically ingrained into halo.

Should of written your post better including more about Halo 4 so it wont get moved to Halo 3 forums.

Only a fraction of 343 are actually former Bungie employees though.

I suppose you are right on the second point, Bungie’s or not it’s pretty much a part of the series. I just think it might be a tad too soon for a remake of 3. I mean bringing back the classics is all fine and dandy but one should never forget that they need to create new content and with a certain amount of staff on a dev team resources can be stretched too thin by too many projects at once.

H3 is fine as is, but it’s no way in hell my favorite. It has my favorite graphics/artstyle out of any Halo game though.

I should clarify I was only talking about the number 343 and not the company. I agree that they should be looking forward to new developments (I was half joking about 2014), but I think they should pay attention to how many people are requesting the gameplay/maps of old.

No

I think halo 3’s time is done. Its done enough and doesn’t need to be revived, especially since it’s still playable. An anniversary would just mean graphically updated campaign, and the current halo mm being on halo 3 maps. I much rather have halo 2…
